The madness begins here! Directed by Clifton Ko, this delightful 1987 Lunar New Year comedy classic spawned a series of It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World films revolving around the roller coaster fortunes of a dysfunctional Hong Kong family. Comedy legends Lydia Shum and Bill Tung and actresses Loletta Lee, Elsie Chan, Pauline Kwan form a family of five that live in cramped public housing. Bill is a newscaster while Lydia is a typical housewife who likes to play mahjong, buy lottery tickets and dream of becoming rich. One day, Lydia really does win the lottery! But the windfall brings them a whole new set of unexpected problems...
