음악에 진심인 배우 조정석이 정규 앨범 조정석 1집을 발매하고 가요계에 첫 발을 내딛는다.
지난 2020년 드라마 ‘슬기로운 의사생활’ OST ‘아로하’로 뜨거운 사랑을 받은 조정석은 국내 음원은 물론 ‘제12회 멜론뮤직어워드 장르상 OST부문’, ‘제35회 골든디스크 어워즈 베스트 OST상’, ‘제30회 하이원 서울가요대상 OST상’, ‘엠넷 아시안 뮤직 어워즈 베스트 OST상’ 등 시상식까지 '올킬'하며 스스로 '조정석'의 이름값을 증명해 보였다. 뿐만 아니라 누적 스트리밍 1억을 돌파하며 유의미한 성과를 거두는 등 거침없는 성장세를 입증했다.
무한한 가능성을 드러낸 ‘신인가수’ 조정석이 9월, 데뷔 앨범이자 정규 앨범 조정석 1집을 발매하고 그만의 색깔을 담은 음악으로 다시 한번 리스너들의 가슴 속에 짙은 잔상을 남긴다.

데뷔 앨범이자 첫 번째 정규 앨범인 만큼 조정석이 전곡 작사, 작곡, 프로듀싱에 이름을 올리며 진정성을 더했다. 더해 거미, 박효신, 다이나믹듀오 등 레전드 아티스트들이 대거 참여해 앨범을 더욱 풍성하게 채웠다. 여기에 에일리의 '첫눈처럼 너에게 가겠다', 거미의 '기억해 줘요 내 모든 날과 그때를' 등을 프로듀싱 한 밴드 로코베리의 '베리'가 함께 앨범 프로듀서로 참여해 완성도를 높였다.
타이틀곡 ‘샴페인’은 짜릿한 취함 속에서 오는 자유로움과 행복감을 노래한 블루스 록 장르의 곡으로 조정석의 깊어진 감정선을 느낄 수 있다. 특히 “알고 있죠 그댄 이미 충분히 훌륭하다는 것을”이라는 가사가 ‘어떤 순간에도 여러분들은 충분히 훌륭하다’는 희망적인 메시지를 더욱 돋보이게 한다.

Having swept digital music charts with hits like Aroha and "I Like You" for the sensational drama Hospital Playlist, Jo Jung Suk officially gains a "musician" title in his entertainment career this year with his self-titled first album. Through the Netflix reality show A-List to Playlist, the well-loved Korean actor takes his first step as a rookie singer-songwriter.
Throughout the program, Jo Jung Suk takes this project seriously and sincerely as he writes songs of various genres, including but not limited to ballad, hip-hop and blues. Produced by the actor, the lead single Champagne (Track 1) comforts souls with blues rock sounds, chill vibes and laid-back vocals. This song, plus a glass of champagne, is the perfect way to blow stress away after a long day of work. The witty actor also shares his take on city pop with Aurora (Track 2). Unexpected as it is, this city pop English number is surprisingly good, adding a fresh element to the album. After hearing something unexpected, we're back on familiar ground with Loving, for you (Track 3), a love ballad that reminds of Jo Jung Suk's hit drama soundtrack songs. He reminisces of a pure first love in the mid-tempo ballad: "You and I / Loving, for you tonight / The day I'm with you / I was excited after waiting for a long time." Jo Jung Suk takes this debut record to the next level by challenging himself to rap in Like a movie, like music (Track 4)! A collaboration with Dynamic Duo, Like a movie, like music comes as a groovy and emotional hip-hop plug that captures how music and movies become an indispensable part of their lives. There's another duet collaboration that everyone's been waiting for – top-tier vocalist (and Jo Jung Suk's wife) Gummy! They render the heart-fluttering moment of the first meeting between lovers in the sweet ballad First Hello (Track 6). Co-written by Park Hyo Shin, Faded Pictures (Track 9) is more slow-paced and romantic like a serenade, and their harmony is just everything! Like how he's chasing his singing dream two decades after his acting debut, Jo Jung Suk encourages listeners to run towards their dreams in the passionate self-empowering anthem The Man of the East (Track 5): "Enjoy it. It's not a big deal. The worries of the moment are only light fog." Besides Champagne, he also cheers us on with the healing song Friend (Track 7) by reminding us to take our time in life. |
