Yamashita Tomohisa and Ito Hideaki come together again for round two of a head-to-head between two of Japan's most famous fictional detectives in the special drama Kindaichi Kosuke VS Akechi Kogoro Futatabi!
After someone tries to poison her father, Ryujo Hoshiko (Gouriki Ayame) seeks the help of detective Kindaichi Kosuke. She believes the attempted poisoning is a result of an inheritance struggle, so Kindaichi travels with the young woman back to her home in Nagano. During the trip, they stumble upon the discarded corpse of Hoshiko's brother-in-law, and return to the Ryujo household to find Hoshiko's family being questioned. At this time, Akechi Kogoro arrives at the Ryujo household. It appears that 20-Face Phantom has declared his intention to steal the Ryujos' precious golden Buddhist statue.
