YesAsia Editorial Description

Techno dance queen Lee Jung Hyun is back with her first album in almost three years, and what a comeback it is! She's pulled together quite a team for her new mini-album Avaholic, a reference to her English name Ava, and buzz for her new single Crazy has been through the roof. A departure from her previous techno style, Crazy is a sexy, catchy fusion of rock, R&B, and hip-hop written and composed by hitmaker E-Tribe. Lee Jung Hyun held auditions in the US to select the dancers to appear in the Crazy music video which is directed by Tucker Barkley and features dance choreography by Brian Friedman.

Lee Jung Hyun worked with Lee Min Soo, the creator of hits like Girls' Generation's Gee and Lee Hyo Ri's U-Go-Girl, for the electro-pop number Vogue Girl. The Marie Antoinette-concept album cover and glamorous photos shot by renowned photographer Ken Sax have also been attracting a lot of attention!

Track 소개
1. Vogue Girl -

(E-Tribe)

(E-Tribe)

5~6. Miro I ~ Miro II -

hm... Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
I'm not as impressed with this album as I am with her past work. I usually like almost all of her songs on her albums but on this one, only 2 caught my attention. Don't get me wrong, I am a LONGTIME fan of Lee JungHyun and I love her creative styles in all of her work, but I didn't really care for the music more than the concept. The concept is actually quite artistic. ^_^

The two tracks I liked were:

2night - an EXCELLENY R&B track featuring BIGTONE.

Miro II - has a French feel and really gave me a nice song to go with the album cover. Whenever I hear this song, I think of the French vocalist Emilie Simon (who is amazing, vocally and artistically).

Maybe I need to see the PV or see her perform the other hit tracks so I can understand what is trying to be done. ^^()

this made me a fan! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
i got this last week and WOW!!!! the packaging is AMAZING! you have to open the 'card' and then the CD comes out like a pop-up card! hmm,, maybe not really like that but it looks like it! its hard to describe XD the photobook is also really gorgeous! everything is Victorian-style which is really lovely <3

so im new to Jung Hyun and im not really familiar to her older works. i listened to her older albums, and i liked it, but i love the style she's doing now the most! she seems more stronger,,
the songs on this mini are reeeaally addicting, like i got each one of them haunting in my head :OO
while Vogue Girl is more cutie (i LOVE the diridididi it girl parts!!), Crazy is reaaally hot and... rough? lol is that the word? then comes Youre Mine, which is also a cutie song, 2night is a clubby song, i really love it! its not a really a "oh yeah lets DANCE" song but more of "ohh i wanna dance slow sexy" kind of song.. er..ya XDDD anywayy its really good XD

and then come Miro 1+2! miro 1 is a little interlude to miro 2, which is a really sad song D: its not youre average sad song though, i found it even more sad, cuz shes singing it happy yet also full of emotion.

overall, im really lovin this mini and i hope she comes with a full album soon! ahh im so happy she came back!!

Jung Hyun Lee - She Ava Holic Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
An immediate mention here is Ava Holic’s CD packaging. With Jung Hyun looking quite the 80s New Romantic Renaissance fashion girl (almost expected a Visage “Fade to Grey” song here), style is Ava Holic’s major theme. Sleeve is an oversized CD card with pull out section and an inclusive booklet with more Jung Hyun photos, (snapped by Ken Sax). I won’t go into details as it would spoil a nice ‘surprise’, but a lavishly styled and novel CD package and certainly the first thing to impress.

“Ava Holic”, a sort of fantasy alter ego for Jung Hyun perhaps as much as her English name, musically is firmly within the K-pop mores of electronic dance. But here the girl band wonder pop is a little more unusual and eccentric. Main song “Vogue Girl (It Girl)” is an excellent energetic number. With a Wonder Girls synth line (similar to WG’s ‘report to the dance floor’ song) and some After School attitude with even a little of Madonna’s “Hung Up” on the refrain, makes for an increasingly addictive melody. Written by Min Soo Lee, “Vogue Girl” may not hit you as much as Mr Lee’s “Gee”. But with each new listen “VG” becomes increasingly addictive. Certainly the quick and catchy refrain of Jung Hyun’s eccentric and dynamic vocal of “baby don’t you wanna be a di li di di di, it girl” lights up this song. “Crazy” is another techno dance number with a more radical approach in the stop-start melody and vocals, and having a wall of synth sound familiar with power beat dance rhythms. But certainly puissant and catchy. “Neon nae kkeo” is nice with a robotic dance beat (+rap by E-Tribe), and a really good over melody and refrain. “2Night” is a more moderate and sultry beat familiar to dance smooch disco.

The album’s electronic pallet ceases though with the final “Miro” songs. These are “Miro 1 and 2” (part 1 an intro) and quite reflective of the cover image, with a music box sound and vaudeville song style with cute vocal theatrics about Ava dreaming of a lover yet to be. Ava might even be a mechanized automaton trapped in a music box, but I’m probably letting my imagination run away there. I haven’t heard much of Jung Hyun, (although I have also recently bought “Fantastic Girl”), but her style is interesting here. Its got the same modern K-pop sensibilities, but with that little bit of oddness and difference in the melodies. Not overly weird though as Ava is more cute and adorable, but a nice mini album that should have strongly appeal.
