Heaven in the Dark writer-director Yuen Kim Wai again explores the darkness and deception of human nature in his second feature film Legally Declared Dead. Anthony Wong, Karena Lam and Carlos Chan star in this psychological suspense thriller about a suspicious death that leads into a grisly and unpredictable mystery.
Insurance agent Sean (Carlos Chan) is asked to visit clients Tak (Anthony Wong) and Ling (Karena Lam) to follow up on an insurance policy. When he arrives at their home, he sees their son hanging dead. Though the death is declared a suicide, Sean suspects that Tak killed his son for the insurance payout. Determined to bring the culprit to justice, he begins to investigate the case himself, not realizing that his sense of righteousness will be used against him. As Sean moves closer to the truth, he also moves closer to danger – and the darkness in his own heart.
