Leslie Cheung held his third concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum from July 29 to August 20, 1988. Over the 23 days, the pop legend performed over 20 hit songs including "Wind Is Blowing," "Sleepless Night," "Don't Need Too Much" and Hot Summer, as well as the theme songs of his films A Chinese Ghost Story and Rouge. This version of the album is newly mixed and mastered, and includes previously unreleased live recordings.

This edition comes with a replica concert ticket set.

Master of the Stage: "1988 Leslie Cheung Concert DVD" ~ Leslie Cheung

Time flies and life goes on. However, even though our superstar Leslie Cheung has already bid us farewell forever for three months, the die-hard fans, as well as the resent reviewer, still can not accept this heart-breaking fact.

Numerous compilation and out-of-print albums have been released, in hope to commemorate the fallen superstar, ever since the tragedy by various of record companies Leslie had signed with. The most recent one was published by Cinepoly Records. The "1988 Leslie Cheung Concert DVD" offers the "Pepsi Superstar Leslie Cheung Concert," which was held in July and August 1988 and is available in DVD format for the first time ever. Now, fans can finally complete their Leslie collection!

This 1988 concert was undoubtedly among the best of Leslie's. The "Master of the Stage" surprisingly refreshing live performance was absolutely sensational and was fuelled by such diversified types of musical pieces as up-beat dance songs, love songs and even Cantonese operas! At that time, Leslie was still very young offering dancing and singing performances full of charm & passion!

As for the songs, one cannot help from being absorbed in simply every one of them in this concert. The reviewer is especially fond of "Personal," (CD#1-Track 1) "Don't Need Too Much," (Track 4) "Adore" (Track 5) and the up-tempo medley right after that Leslie performed dressed like a prince of course, you are not supposed to miss such classics as "Wind Still Blows," (CD#2-Track 4) "No Mind To Sleep" (Track 5) and "We Will Make It" (Track 8).

Leslie also surprised his fans by singing several heavy Chinese flavored Cantonese operas in the 1988 concert. For instance, "Song of the Exile (Ke Tu Qiu Hen)" (CD#1-Track 7), "Yan Zhi Kou," (Track 8) "A Chinese Ghost Story (Qian Nu You Hun)" (Track 9) and "Song Ying Tai" (Track 10). Never imagined that Leslie, who looked somehow westernized, could be so amazingly attractive with his refined, artistic Cantonese opera performance.

Excellent content but below par digital transfer. Customer Review Rated Bad 5 - 5 out of 10
I was in this concert in 1988 and expected this dvd would have brought me back those good memories. Unfortunately the quality of the video and sound is a big let down. Misty and coarse images are a clear indication that Cinepoly has not spent any resources on the digital remastering/transfer. Also the audio quality is a disappointment despite of the use of DTS format.

I just received the Vcd yesterday.
Erm, the songs in the concert were great,especially Rouge which never been recorded in any other album.
Although the stage was a little bit old fasioned, as compared to the Final Encounter of the Legend concert,anyhow, it's a worth for his fans to buy this concert as a collection to his concerts performers.

I would have given 5 stars if the concert was not so damn short, only 84 minutes. It is certainly not enough to satisfy. Why can't anyone release Leslie's full concert for once? I was told the concert actually lasted for almost 3 hours. What happened to all the missing songs and why are they missing from the DVD at all? Also, can anyone tell me how to get rid of that irritating camera icon on the right side of the screen? Why is it there?? To annoy you further??
