This one is essential! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
In all of Western pop music, I do not believe that there is any single album that can come close to matching the significance within the Western world that "Dan Dan You Qing" had among Chinese listeners.

Timeless, classic poetry set to lavish and lovely orchestrations, captivatingly sung by the greatest interpreter of Chinese pop songs who has ever lived. It simply cannot be beat.

This is a particularly nice package, featuring gorgeous cover photos of Miss Deng and the beautiful lyrics booklet with more nice photos of Teresa and prints of classic paintings. The sound really pops on this album, evidence of an excellent job of digital remastering.

For me, this is a "desert island disk", one of only a handful of albums guaranteed to remain a lifelong treasure.

ENDURING CLASSIC, ETERNAL VOICE Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
A first in the history of Chinese pop music, Teresa Teng further established herself as an artiste and singer with the release of this critically acclaimed concept record. Translating 12 carefully selected poems from the Tang and Sung Dynasty, Teresa lends her enduring vocals to the master-piece music arrangements. This re-release CD replicates the original 1983 LP front, back and inner sleeve gatefold artwork. Fans must be most comforted to know that the 28-page exqusite booklet which accompanied the original LP, is also included in this re-release! The typesetting and layout retain the integrity of the original LP booklet artwork! How ingenious! There are up to as many as 5 different LP pressings of this exquisite classic by Teresa Teng. The slight variation in the quality of the pressing of the vinyls and artwork of this title by PolyGram Records in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Kolin in Taiwan is enough for fans to collect them all. Now with this re-release CD, there is just one more to add to the collection. While the tunes are all too familiar now, Teresa's vocals are just as timeless regardless if you hear her on tape, vinyl or CD. If there is one good thing we can say of modern day technology, it is putting Teresa's sweet vocals on CD to treasure, appreciate and to reminisce, that once there was this one dame in the world, who is the world to all the chinese pop music lovers, from here to eternity.

Poetic Beauty! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This album first came out in 1983, when CDs were just babies...The lyrics are actually poems from centuries past put to music...a perfect match! I agree with Jim Taylor that this is indeed a classic that will withstand the test of time....(But I'm wondering...does THIS version have the little booklet inside with the original poems AND the modern Chinese translations in it like the original CD has?)

I have been studying the MAnadarin Language for almost 10years. Although I have not mastered the language, but I must say that my interest in the language started with listening to the lovely mandarin songs of Teresa. This album was released in the early 80s, must be one of the best album that she has produced.
The peotic lyrics are accompanied by the lush orchestration and the angelic voice of Teresa. I do not see anyone repeating this feat for a long time to come.
It is a must have for any Chinese music listener.
Teresa , thank you for producing such a classic that will withstand the test of time. An evergreen till the end of time

Buy this album before it is out of print. The best of all her studio recordings. Many composer/arrangement done by first class musician of the early eighties. The poetic lyrics were taken from well know historical classic poems. I bought this on CD and now buy another version on RX CD recording done with JVC using 20 bit laser cutting techniques and pressed in Japan. Must Buy!
