A group of junior high school students discover a portal to another world in the animated feature Lonely Castle in the Mirror based on Tsujimura Mizuki's award-winning fantasy novel. Directed by Hara Keiichi (Miss Hokusai), the fantasy mystery unlocks the troubles and traumas of adolescents in need of help.

Unable to fit in at school, Kokoro shuts herself in her room. One day, the mirror in her room suddenly glows, and she enters the mirror into another world. Inside, there is a castle like the ones in fairy tales, and she meets six other junior high school students. A mysterious girl in a wolf mask appears and says, "If you find the key hidden in the castle, I will grant you any wish." While searching for the key together, the seven students realize they have one thing in common. Over time, they gradually get to know each other and understand each other's circumstances. The castle turns into a special refuge for them, but then something happens. Will they find the key, and what is the wish hidden in each person's heart?

安西心在學校失去容身之所，將自己關在房間裡。某日房間內的鏡子突然發光，並將她吸進了神秘世界。鏡子的彼端聳立著一座孤獨的城堡，心在那裡遇見六個陌生的中學生，一個戴著狼面具的少女亦伴隨出現，並告知：「只要找到藏在城堡裡的鎖匙，無論甚麼願望都會替你實現喔！」而時限是一年。
