Long Day's Journey Into Night (DVD) (Japan Version) DVD Region 2

Chinese indie director Bi Gan made a splash in the festival circuit in 2015 with his debut feature Kaili Blues, which featured a 40-minute long take. His sophomore effort, Long Day's Journey into Night, concludes with an even lengthier 59-minute long take that journeys into a dreamy wonderland. Selected for the Un Certain Regard section of the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, the film is a cinematic exercise of both technical bravura and mesmerizing storytelling. Huang Jue (A Tale of Three Cities) plays the lonely drifter of this noir-washed tale co-starring Tang Wei (Lust, Caution) and Sylvia Chang.

After two decades away, Luo Hongwu (Huang Jue) returns to his hometown upon news of his father's death. As he wanders through the rundown town, he searches for a past love (Tang Wei), a mysterious woman with whom he once shared a memorable summer.

[ストーリー]
