民間傳說《白蛇傳》是在舞臺上最常被搬演的故事，這個淒美而浪漫的愛情故事在2012年由臺北木偶劇團領軍，首次結合傳統、金光、電視等木偶創造出木偶新的想像空間。
本演出融合多位南、北優秀青年主演的藝術與風格，激盪出一種臺灣從來沒有過的製作方式，傳統戲偶的細膩、金光尪仔的誇張、電視木偶的華麗…等，精緻且豐富的再現傳統《白蛇傳》的神話世界。
為擴大欣賞層面，力邀素有「百變名伶」之稱的呂雪鳳及榮獲第二十屆金曲獎「最佳戲曲曲藝專輯獎」的李靜芳一同參與演出。藉由纏綿動人的歌仔戲唱腔喚起觀眾的共鳴並柔和布袋戲的陽剛，讓觀眾可以多方面欣賞到傳統藝術的表演形式及精髓。
劇情描述宋朝紹興年間傳說，由蛇化身為人形的白素真為報答許仙前世救命之恩與許仙結為夫妻。某日因許仙偶遇法海禪師，而引發一連串事件，最終造成白素貞與法海展開激烈的鬥法大戰。
