April 5, 2020 Not so innocent
A project to create super humans but as the experiment is put to a halt. all subjects are to be terminated. One girl Ja Yoon manages to escape and gets adopted by a family who finds her. She grows up with no memory of her past until one day suspicious men begin approaching her.
Jayoon played by Kim Da Mi is a excellent actress. her expressions in this movie will show you why an ordinary looking girl will be titled as the witch. I was really captured by her acting. I won't forget the expressions from her face.

*English subtitles are good*
a decent horror film with quality effects. This was the first film I saw Kpop Idol Naeun from Apink perform. Her acting is ok to good. I didn't see notice anything big in particular from her acting that ruined the film. The actress playing the mother. I saw her in another filmed call bedeviled(also playing a mother) and she definitely plays her roles right. Seemingly normal but can give you a hell of a surprise when she turns into her devilish side.
Overall this movie is about a spirit haunting and killing off the sons of the residence. Ok-boon(Naeun) will be moving into this residence as she will marry the youngest son. A mystery is slowly reviewed as Ok-boon has dreams of the past regarding the haunting spirit when it was alive. A wandering exorcist appears sensing a huge grudge from the dead spirits in the residence(its quite the entrance he makes). The whole movie is kept on a gloomy like pace which perfectly fits the events of a poor girl moving into a wealth family as tragedy keeps falling in this household from the haunting spirit. Nothing is as simple as it looks.

*I got the Hong Kong version for the popcorn deal and the English subtitles are good*
I'm not quite sure what the title refers to but this film is kept in a somewhat dim atmosphere. I don't quite mean the lighting but it fits the mood of the film. A doctor divorced from his wife takes turns each week to spend time with their son. The doctor befriends a butcher that lives in the same building who also owns a shop just below their residence. After a night of drinks with the butcher. The doctor doesn't remember going home as he awakes from a morbid dream of finding a head in a bag that appears in his freezer. A tale of suspense and fear follows as the butcher could be a murderer. The doctors ex-wife disappears a few days after she visits him in his apartment, a nurse from his clinic who visited him at his apartment goes missing the next day. The police and a retired inspector gets involved. Was sung hoon right all along and could he be next?
The Chinese Feast (1995) (Blu-ray) (Remastered Edition) (Hong Kong Version)March 29, 2020 Extra footage
One of my favorite movies of all times. I literally watch this movie once a year for the past 15years.
the comedy is great and the food looks extremely delicious. I wish some of the dishes could truly be made the way they show so I could eat it in real life. although I think some of the dishes can truly be craft the way they show but would require a lot of work.
A short intro between 2 top chefs display their rice cooking skills, carving skills(ice carving was amazing but the tofu carved into statues!), and cooking fish. The competition has an unexpected result due to a personal matter with one of the chefs and ends in a drama like scene. Forwarding in time. Chiu(leslie) wanting to change his gangster life and find his girlfriend in another country by becoming a chef. One of the top chef by chance meets meets Chiu and refers him to a restaurant. Little does chiu knows that he has enter enemy territory.
Check this movie out to see whether both top chefs will meet again and how the outcome of this silly but delicious story end.
Regarding this Blu-ray remastered edition. The English subs are decent, but doesn't translate well when it comes to the jokes which takes out a lot of laughter during some scenes. (spoiler alert) during a early scene when chiu(leslie) and wai(anita) are talking to each other during a scene about she can speak French. she says VV(oui, oui meaning yes), leslie says you mean VV wet wet(meaning to go play in cantonese slang), the dad(law kar ying) jumps in and says V.V. catch the finish in the english subs( but he actually say V.V. help find the fish asshole in cantonese) it makes a huge difference for the jokes in how things are interpreted to match their voice and tones. There are also other scenes that are badly translated to what they are actually saying but this is nonetheless a great movie that I love.
Extra footage as I mentioned . in this edition there is a scene that I've seen only for the first time out of the 15-20 years since I owned the original DVD. This remastered Blu-ray adds in a fight scene that does not appear in the dvd. although the scene may not be necessary but it was a bit surprising to see.

February 8, 2019 The Brotherhood is back, sorta
The gang is back and it's a bit different. Right or wrong. It's up to the brothers to uphold what is justice even among themselves. This isn't your gangster take over film, but more like a task force of robin hood's to help those in need. Let see how the brother's hold onto their family and what is the true meaning of brotherhood when one of them goes astray.
I just love watching the old crew get together. sometimes movies aren't just about the story, the action, and that it has to make sense(sorta of), but its the connection between the faces you see together

February 8, 2019 Mr Nice Guy
I think Korea has got it down when it comes to gangsters flicks. They've always showed the power of gangs. From respect to fear. Well lets not forget no matter how much power they have. The law is around and respect can turn to betrayal because money, power, and surviving is more important.
Watching a lot of Korean gangster films. People will wonder why they rarely use guns. It's because in Korea they don't have guns or a law for guns so even the police use clubs and what not. Honestly using blunt or sharp weapons makes the movie more real and gruesome. Tho very similar to Hong Kong triad films. The brutality Korean movies take it is another level. It feels very real and it makes you kind of close your eyes yet leaving a slit open to keep watching. They also show the shadiness and classic scenes with hostess clubs.
I may have talked more about the genre over the actual movie, but I don't want to spoil anything. It shows corruption to doing your job as the law to protect the law as well as yourself. The action as I've said is cut throat brutal. Ma Dong Seok puts up a great act as the corrupt detective upholding the law when needed but falling easily to temptation while maintaining his composure. Yoon Kye Sang is pure evil. I haven't seen a gangster take over like his since watching Brother(Takeshi Kitano) except Yoon Kye Sang role feels more psycho.
If you do check this out. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I watched it twice in a short time.

February 7, 2019 legendary Lam Ching Ying
Being a huge fan of the late Lam Ching Ying. This was a must get. Having all his movies of vampires and ghost. I really miss the movies he made. The Figures itself look great, but it feels rather cheap for the high price. The price is just probably using Lam's name from his fantastic one of a kind series. The figure in its box and the shipping box feels as like as a feather. I almost thought nothing was inside if I didn't see the figures inside the box. R.I.P vampire master Lam Ching Ying. You are still missed today.

January 19, 2019 A hero lives forever
I'm glad and didn't even hesitate to make the purchase once I found this movie. Although I prefer Jet Li as Wong Fei Hung from the once upon a time series. Vincent Zhao is good actor and a great martial artist. Maintaining Wong Fei Hung as the hero of justice. It's your usual. Help the poor and weak. Fight when forced. Maintain peace, but stepping in when its proper. A hero that will never fade from my mind as the world needs people like Wong Fei Hung. Not afraid of doing what's right regardless of backlash from corrupt officials. The Action scenes were decent, but the only problem I had mostly with the movie was the sound effects. Usually you get the extra thrill and excitement from the sound of the punch, kicks, and impact, but everything sounded flat. So that drastically lowered the quality of the fight scenes which is why I rated this a 8 instead of a 10. Reminded me of films from the late 80s-90s .

February 25, 2017 stephen chow all in one
you really need to be a true stephen chow fan to understand all the lines being taken from his classics and placed into this movie. I think it's those lines and short scenes being put into this movie that made me laugh. If the character imitating stephen chows voice is really that good. well damn! otherwise I swear its stephen chow himself playing his own voice

August 19, 2016 vampires return
Being a huge fan of horror/supernatural genres especially since the death of master vampire expert lam ching ying. It's been a long time since I've seen a good cantonese tv series about vampires like blue veins.
The story is basically about immortals who were once royal guards who were sent to eliminate the vampires but were utterly defeated. With a strike of lightening who brought them back to life(think of it as jason from friday the 13th) it gave the guards a second chance with superhuman powers turning them into immortals allowing them to battle vampires on a equal level or greater.
The show is viewed during present time going back to the past once in awhile to explain some background stories.
The action scenes are entertaining, but the graphics for the scenes are over exaggerated where it seems fake. I just kept in mind that they want to portray the power of the immortals and vampires and kept watching for the reason because of the genre I enjoy and the story itself was a bit different and kept me watching.
The series contains good comedy, romance, action, but be ready for a somewhat rushed finish/ending that was the least spectacular of the whole series.

November 12, 2015 the hero never wins
This movie is quite gruesome. It's not so much that there is gore, but the actions that are taken. I honestly didn't think this movie would turn out the way it did, but it is damn F'ed up. Just saying messed up doesn't cut it.
Talk about when things go wrong. Things really turn for the worst and worst. I can't translate it properly from cantonese to english, but the phrase would be something like," to die for a woman, to be doomed for a woman" would fit perfectly in this movie.
The things people will do for money, sex, how to get over a incident you witness, self preservation, and protect what they believe in.
This was definitely a good movie. down with the ship captain!!
Journey To The West: Conquering the Demons (2013) (DVD) (Hong Kong Version)1 people found this review helpful
October 9, 2015 Memories of the past
This is a different version of the prequel to how the journey to west would have begun. How the master met his disciples and gained his nirvana or whatever you would call it to become the holy monk he is.
Definitely see some of the old Stephen Chow jokes from his movies a Chinese Odyssey in this version. Like how the love quote from A Chinese Odyssey," If there was a limit to my love for you, it would be 10,000 years" was changed in this version to be even more touching and meaningful which I'll let viewers find out themselves
One of the funniest jokes was the fighting scene with the guy who had the tiny leg. I guess to translate it in english would be the sky's cruel foot or in this movie the sky's cripple foot where the word for cruel/cripple can sound the same but have different meanings depending how you use it. I guess it would only make sense in cantonese and the fact that the move in old chinese kung fu films was basically a giant foot stepping down on you, but the pun is the characters foot is super deformed in this movie.
Definitely was a bit confused at the start, but eventually everything made sense and fell into place.
It's been a long time since I've seen a well made movie by stephen chow or the Hong Kong cinema. Maybe stephen chow wasn't in this film, but his ideas were definitely there and reminded me of his old great movies.

This is definitely a book I would love to bring and get autographed by the girls. I'm happy they're able to come out with so many great products working in Japan, but I wish there was a korean version. I just started learning korean and it would be great to read some of the content inside lol. At least I can enjoy pictures of the lovely girls =)

January 23, 2013 display of talent
I really should have written a review for this album about 3 years ago, but it's never to late to start now. I remember how noteworthy this album is when I first got it. It was really unique to hear so many different styles of music in just one album and not to mention it being t-ara's first album. This album really displays what talent and potential T-ara has.
Songs such as falling you, apple is A, 좋은사람, byebye, 처음처럼 just to name a few from the album displays the different genre the girls are able to perform. It definitely left an impression as not many albums in general display various types of music and are actually all good or just decent to listen to.

January 6, 2013 Wish I was there
This concert was simply amazing from the start to finish. It was no surprised that they performed many of their hit songs, but it was awesome seeing them perform songs from their first album even if it was in japanese. not like i would have understood the korean ver. anyways lol. watching the japanese fans were a lot of fun as well. seeing them cheer and move along to the girls made me jump out of my chair to show my support even though i was watching from my tv screen. All the girls looked cute, pretty, and sexy, while being drowned in sweat wearing huge smiles as they performed to show their love for the fans. t-ara hwaiting!!!

December 27, 2012 brotherhood
loyalty and brotherhood may not stand for all, but there are still few who believe in it. Chi Sung fights for his gang and is shortly sent to jail. There he reunites with one of his long time friend who was suppose to be dead due to a death sentence. Not long after he is soon betrayed by his boss who sent a close ally to stab him in the back. Seeking revenge, chi sung plans his escape by ramming his body against a wall. Rumors has it that a specific wall among the prison walls was built weakly and should crumble fairly easy.
this is film has its share of comedy, touching moments of what brotherhood, friendship, and true loyalty is about.

December 25, 2012 freaking hilarious
this movie got me and my friends rolling on the floor. I haven't found myself laughing so hard and long in awhile. what a good way to spend xmas eve....a simple missing tape can sure lead to some hilarious adventures...thugs pretending to be cops who actually end up helping the police. For pretend cops they do an excellent job of helping the police since no one would know thugs better than being one in the first place.

November 23, 2012 delicious sounds
One(sung yu ri as Ko Jun Young) lost for 22years . One(Seo Hyun Jin as Ha In Joo/Song Yeon Woo) pretending to be the other for 22 years. Two girls who's only connection is the family that one longs to find and the other who will do whatever it takes to protect her place in the family. What will happen when the path of these 2 girls finally cross?
A mom who cannot recognize her own daughter and believing the one she has lived with for 22 years is her own. A fake and real copy of a missing cooking book of Arirang secrets surfaces. A son who wants to seek revenge on his own mother. The food is just as intense and complex as the drama in this series.
P.S Sung Yuri, I never knew what the fuss about her was until I finally saw her in this drama. She has to be the cutest actress I've ever seen. It's so hard to not like her throughout this drama.
