Following 2009's Voice and 2016's The Mole Song: Hong Kong Capriccio, Ikuta Toma and Eita collaborate for the third time in 64 Six-Four director Zeze Takahisa's My Friend A. Based on Yakumaru Gaku's 2013 suspense novel Yuuzai, the crime suspense unfolds the aftermath story of a juvenile offender whose crimes once shocked the world. Sato Koichi (64 Six-Four), Kaho (My Little Sister), Yamamoto Mizuki (Peach Girl) and Tomita Yasuko (Being Good) also co-star in this acute and disquieting drama that affords no easy answers.

After giving up his dream of becoming a journalist, Masuda Junichi (Ikuta Toma) begins working at a rundown factory on the same day as Suzuki Hideto (Eita), who keeps to himself and avoids revealing his past. In a nearby town, a child's death draws comparison to a case that happened 17 years ago when a 14-year-old boy dubbed "Shonen A" committed a series of child murders. Based on Suzuki's appearances and behavior, Masuda gradually suspects his enigmatic friend of being the infamous Shonen A.
