Writer-director Yu Sen-I intertwines three stories of love, dreams and struggles in New York in the Taiwan film My Heavenly City. MIRROR's Keung To (Mama's Affair), Vivian Sung (Our Times), Jack Yao (Dear Tenant), Mandy Wei (Swimming Battle) and Jessica Lee form the ensemble cast of Taiwan transplants who have come to New York to pursue their dreams, but what does this big city hold for them?

Mavis (Vivian Sung), who moved from Taiwan to New York for her studies, lives alone in Brooklyn and works as an English-Chinese interpreter. Torn between staying or going back home, the lonely young woman meets various strugging people through her job. Jack (Keung To), a college student from Taiwan, meets Singapore exchange student Lulu (Jessica Lee) through their shared interest in street dance. The two find love while chasing their dreams together in New York, but life may pull them to different places. Jason (Jack Yao) and Claire (Mandy Wei), a married couple living in New York, are stretched to breaking point trying to take care of their son, who is on the spectrum and prone to violent tantrums.
