Product Information
Born in the comic books created by Alice Mak and Brian Tse, the adorable little pig McDull is a child like any other of the many who live in Hong Kong. McDull is not the brightest kid on the black, quite awkward indeed, but he incessantly tries to do his best to delight his mother. Still it seems he may not be predestined for great things like she wishes, but Mcdull strives to try anyhow, including learning windsurfing in the hope of becoming the next Gold Medalist Lee Lai-shan... Without any greatachievements, however, his innocence and the happy-go-lucky spirit wins the hearts of the local crowd and make himself one of the most popular local cartoons. The background of the cartoon shows the cityscape of Hong Kong from the point of view of its citizens' daily life. A blend of humor, nostalgia and a slightly sad tone, story of McDull represents a 100% Hong Kong fairy tale for the city's children and adults.

Professional Review of "My Life as McDull (Movie Version) (DVD) (New Version) (English Subtitled) (Hong Kong Version)"
This professional review refers to My Life as McDull (Movie Version)
Animation production is never a popular business in Hong Kong. Back in the 1980s, three Old Master Q were produced, which did not gain too much attention from the public. In the mid 1990s, Tsui Hark produced an animated feature A Chinese Ghost Story. It was pretty well received, but still unable to stimulate the growth of the animation industry drastically. In 2001, Brian Tse animated his highly successful comic series The Story of McMug and released My Life as McDull. Reviewed by: Kantorates - Cinespot.com |

"My Life as McDull" is one of the funniest, most heart-breaking, and most heart-warming animated films I've ever seen. Not particularly bright, not particularly handsome, and not particularly lucky, McDull is your average, everyday Hong Kong kid (or, in this case, piglet). He loves his mom, loves his school, and loves his school friends, although he sometimes struggles with all of the above. He wants to make his mark on the world, but, given his lack of special talents, it is not clear how he can make it happen. And he dreams of traveling to the Maldives, but his mother has no money for such a trip. Somehow, out of these unprepossessing circumstances, the filmmakers craft a loose-limbed tale filled with laughter, optimism, and genuine affection.
The film's animation is superficially crude, but its imagery and effects create a fully-realized world. Indeed, that world -- the city and culture of Hong Kong -- is captured so vividly and exquisitely that it becomes almost a character of its own in the movie's tale. The film's story is told in anything but a linear fashion; it goes off on tangents and flights of fancy that can seem baffling at first, but which add wealth of richness to the characters and the setting. While "My Life as McDull" certainly will appeal to children, I don't regard it as truly a children's movie. Lots of the story will go way over the heads of small children, but will leave adults in stitches (and, in some cases, in tears). In short, this is a movie that will appeal to viewers of all ages. "My Life as McDull" is a delight! |

Many people think My Life as McDull is for kids only, I seriously doubt that. McDull and his friends are cute and their encounters are funny, but it is not all. If you take a closer look, you will notice that McDull's life is in fact a big failure. |

i loved this movie! my first impression was that it was a cute children's movie about being a kid with an overbearing mother. but as the movie progressed it seem to reflect on many aspects of life. like realizing dreams don't always come true and that there are disappointments in life even when you're a kid. also it's the little things in life that you appreciate the most. overall i reccomend this movie to all ages. kids will love to watch it because it's funny and cute and adults will enjoy it too because it has a deeper meaning. |

Mc Dull is a cute funny determined little pig and is just an unique little kid in his class. It's so cute how he tries to please his mom. It's just so funny that McDull likes Chicken Bottoms because no one really eats that part but it is a very funny thing. (Not to BE personal) I almost choked from laughing soo much, While I was eating chicken!!(how ironic) I just love the little guy and I can't wait for Prince De La Bun!!
