　　講述了1925年，聶榮臻結束歐洲留學生活回到國內，到黃埔軍校擔任政治部秘書兼任政治教官。南昌起義時，周恩來身染瘧疾發高燒，聶榮臻和葉挺想方設法保護他到達香港。1928年春天，聶榮臻在香港和黨的地下交通員張瑞華結婚。1930年，聶榮臻被調到上海參加“特科”工作，處置了叛徒顧順章。長征途中，聶榮臻和林彪指揮部隊，成功越過敵人的封鎖線。線一、四方面軍會合後，聶榮臻堅決反對張國燾的錯誤做法，為中央紅軍北上過草地做出貢獻。

　　抗戰爆發，以紅一軍團為主改編而成的八路軍115師取得平型關大捷。抗戰結束，聶榮臻和妻子見到了失散多年的女兒麗麗。1948年4月，毛澤東率中央前委到阜平城南庄晉察冀軍區司令部駐地，遭到國民黨飛機轟炸，聶榮臻下令把毛澤東抬進山洞，避免了一場可能發生的災難。遼沈戰役打響後，聶榮臻適時提出和平解放北平的想法，得到中央的同意，北平和平解放，中央從西柏坡遷往北平。

　　1955年，中央提出研發原子彈的想法，聶榮臻積極成立國防部五院，經過艱辛努力，中國第一顆原子彈成功爆響。與此同時，他還主持中國第一艘核潛艇建造和衛星研制工作。
