Since its creation in 1970 Doraemon has gone on to become one of Japanese pop culture's most enduring and popular franchises, comprising multiple comics, TV series (Over 2000 episodes and running!), many theatrical films, and an impressive amount of merchandising. Doraemon is a blue-and-white mechanical cat sent back in time by the future descendants of Nobita Nobi, a hapless kid whose laziness and ineptitude have led to suffering for future generations. Doraemon tries to set Nobita on the right path, but he's not entirely capable himself, leading to many unexpected and frequently hilarious misadventures.

Doraemon flies again to Nobita's aid in Nobita and the Animal Planet, a 1990 entry in the long-running film series. Nobita, Doraemon and friends visit a planet populated entirely by friendly animals, who have seemingly created their own utopia. But some time after their visit, Doraemon receives a distress call. What has happened to the peaceful planet of animals?
