The romantic comedy opens in the present day when gym teacher Woo Yeon (Kim Young Kwang) receives a wedding invitation from Seung Hee (Park Bo Young), the girl who got away. The film then rewinds back over a decade to when the two first met in high school. Immature slacker Woo Yeon falls head over heels for the sassy new transfer student, but first love is fleeting as she soon moves away. When he learns what college she's attending in Seoul, Woo Yeon puts effort into studying for the first time and eventually gets into the same school. Though she already has a boyfriend, he's still smitten and continues to wear his heart on his sleeve. In the ensuing years, they remain close friends who fight often while keeping each other in mind, but their timing seems to always be just a bit off.

Playful, moving and oh-so-relatable, writer-director Lee Seok Gun's feature debut is simply about that universal experience of falling in love, losing love and growing up in the process. It's a familiar story but On Your Wedding Day just gets it right with the cute, the cringe, the comedy and the heartbreak. Though both are well out of school age, the ever lovable Park Bo Young and the impishly charming Kim Young Kwang channel the effervescent energy and feelings of youth and first love – their heart-fluttering height difference is straight out of a manga!

At the same time, both actors can also effectively carry the story through adulthood as the protagonists' relationship evolves over a decade's time. One of the film's greatest strengths is its refreshingly fast and even pacing which drives in the lesson that love is about timing, and life will keep moving forward even if their relationship doesn't.
