YesAsia Editorial Description

Ti Lung rose to great fame with John Woo's A Better Tomorrow (1986) which cast him opposite Chow Yun Fat. Prior to that, he made a lot of martial arts movies under the Shaw Brothers, including Opium and The Kung-Fu Master set in 18th-century China on the eve of the Opium War. Ti Lung stars as the leader of the Canton Ten Tigers. However, opium begins to erode the health of this fighter who was once invincible. The vicious opium house owner (Chan Koon Tai) comes to challenge him and he almost loses his life in the tournament. Director by the Shaw Brothers' favorite action choreographer Tang Chia, who only directed three film in his career but designed the action sequences for numerous titles, Opium and The Kung-Fu Master promises to deliver hard-boiled actions that even avid martial arts movie fans will find amazing!

Product Information

Director: Tang Chia

Tang Chia is considered one of the greatest kung-fu choreographers ever, but he only directed three movies of his own. This, his last, is not only his greatest but one of the greatest ever, as the leader of the Ten Kwangtung Tigers falls victim to drug addiction. The tragedies and drama that ensue are as stunning as the kung-fu, created by a superlative team of six martial artists. A legitimate masterpiece and one of the finest, most effecting martial arts movies Shaw Brothers ever produced.
