Veteran Hong Kong actor-director-media personality Kam Kwok Leung writes and directs the off-the-wall magical romance Passion Island. Returning to the director's chair for the first time since 1996's 4 Faces of Eves, the iconic star brings together the eclectic name cast of Simon Yam, Joan Chen, Chang Chen, Francis Ng, Song Jia and Janice Man for an unusual relationship drama on an island named Passion. From giant monkey paintings to magical purple weed, Passion Island wears its artistic strangeness on its sleeve, providing bizarrely memorable moments like Janice Man film-parody fantasy sequences, Chang Chen sneering in Korean and Simon Yam being inexplicably pantless for much of the film. There's also a whale. A true oddball of a movie unlike anything else you've seen, Passion Island entertains, one way or another.

Simon (Simon Yam) is the boss of "Passion Island," an escapist island that produces "Passion Weed" for medicinal and/or hallucinogenic use. Simon's estranged ex-wife Joanna (Joan Chen) arrives on the island with the intention of investigating him and his mysterious purple plant for environmental violations. Chu Yu (Francis Ng) has brought his wheelchair-bound fiancee Fan Li (Song Jia) to the island to seek out the healing properties of Passion Weed. Angry Korean Chuell Kim (Chang Chen) is on the island looking for his missing car with the help of Simon's goddaughter, travel guide Janice (Janice Man). Oddities abound as the couples fight, bond and fight some more under the purplish haze of Passion Island.
