Based on a Japanese comic series, Nam Nai Choi's Peacock King features action star Yuen Biao and Japanese actor Mikami Hiroshi (Swallowtail) as two monks teaming up with a mission to defeat powerful demons. The only thing getting in the way between the monks and the devil is the devil's daughter Ashura (Gloria Yip), whom the Chinese monk begins to sympathize with. Co-produced by Japanese and Hong Kong production companies, Peacock King features a mix of behind-the-scenes talents from Hong Kong and Japan, including hit J-horror producer Ichise Takashige (Ring, The Grudge) as special effects producer. A visually dazzling fantasy with the production value of a Japanese blockbuster and the wild energy of a Hong Kong film, Peacock King represents the best of both worlds.

peacock king
| yuen biao shows great on screen preference and dilivers a great fight screen. though the film is laughable sometimes at the poor CGI it can be passed knowing that the film was made quite a while ago. there is hardly any fight sequences within the movie but when the one and only fight scene does appear (yuen biao versus Gordan lui and some other people)yuen biao cases some impressive flips, punches and kicks that he is capable of dilivering. this may not be his best but it is worth a watch even if it is just for the one fight scene. |
