Cantopop's Most Perfect Match
Ron Ng and Lin Xi are a perfect match in Hong Kong pop. They arranged for these 17 Cantopop singers to jam it together with amazing results. The CD and DVD are just exceptional in sound and visual quality. I love the overall introduction to this production and each short introductions to each of these eight songs. My favs. has to be tracks no. 3-9. I, honestly didn't like the pairing of Liza Wang and Kelly Chen, just because the way they sing doesn't compliment each other. Big Sister Liza is a traditionalist when it comes to the pronounciation of Cantonese wording. She'd been singing like this since the 1970's and hasn't changed. While Kelly uses a more modern way of singing. Her singing voice flows with soft femininity. They're (in my opinion) are the worst match in this musical production. My most favourite pairing has to be of Gia Lin Yuan and Rammie Guo Xinqi. They immediately caught my attention with their beauty, charisma and lovely singing. I love these two beautiful young Chinese ladies. The pairing of Jacky Cheung and Eason Chan are also the one and the only in a possible lifetime. There may be no pairing of these two together in the future. I hope you'll enjoy this musical production as much as I did. Cheers to Ron and Xi! Zai jian! |

On the other hand, I actually think Andy and Patrick complement each other a lot better in track 1 than the guys in 4 and 7. The song is quietly touching, which I like.
Liza and Kelly's track is nice, I just think that the French monologue at the beginning of the song a bit pretentious and unnecessary. Jordan and little Marie's track 6 is a very cute song. Unfortunately, Marie's not-so-sweet voice really has ruined the song. They should have tried harder and found a girl who could actually pull off that song, rather than some rich friends' kid. Last but not least, Gia and Rammie's track is not so bad, unlike some critics, I actually like the fact that it's in both Cantonese and Mandarin. It highlights that the 2 women in the songs are so close but yet so far - emotionally, geographically and where they come from. My only complain is that Rammie's singing is a bit off. All in all, I can only give this album 70%. Recommended in order: Tracks 3, 5 & 2. |

Great concept but the album is only okay......
I agree with many critics and reviewers, the song quality has let this album down, or maybe we expected too much? As Lin Xi said in an interview, he would've like a 'brokeback' song performed by 2 male singers in this project. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. Anyhow, I don't think the HK pop music industry is quite ready for a duet love song between 2 men yet. Back to the ablum.
Track 3 is my favourite - the melody is the most complicated one out of all, and Eric and especially Stephanie did a great job. Try singing it at Karaoke, then you'll know what I mean. Because it's not of 'K-song' quality, I doubt that this song would be very popular in the charts. I also love track 5, it's like a light breeze - it's easy-listening. Wilfred and Pui Wei did a good job. Also, the lyrics are not as serious and 'preachy' as tracks like 4 and 7 - despite sung by great singers like Jacky, Eason and Paul, are not at all enjoyable. I don't like Track 7, Eason and Jacky sound like they are competing to be the main man, pretty irritating (maybe because they didn't actually record in the same studio together). |

Worth my $$$ on this
Overall the songs are quite good especially all of them are in duet. I am really looking a chance to see them perform live on the stage. You know, duet always powerful on stage and is the time to show that they are really can sing....Btw, I think track 6 is a good songs but trash by the cute little girl...I pay for good voice not cute idea......Sorry to say that. |

I guess it's due to a misleading title...
The last Artist Collaboration CD I purchased was "The World Song" by Polydor, which was a long long time ago. I was hoping this was an excellent CD like that one, but I guess the title is a bit misleading and the CD ended up being a bit of a disappointment. However, I was glad that there were really talented singers, even ones that haven't been producing records for a while like Eric Suen and Yuen Yuen. I like Tracks 3, 4, 5, and 7.
There are great singers, a great composer and lyicist, but unfortunately somethings are not matching up. |
