YesAsia Editorial Description

Directed by Oh Jong Rok ( 90 Days of Love, Happy Together), Piano hit the big time in ratings in 2001. A heart-wrenching melodrama that revolves around one man's love for his children and a forbidden love between stepsiblings, the drama marks the beginning of Cho Jae Hyun's recognition as an actor. In Piano, the chameleon actor, recently seen in MBC's new medical drama New Heart, portrays a small-time gangster who at times appears to be a ruthless, foul-mouthed hooligan, and other times to be a lovable squeeze. Cho's Korean accented version of "I Love You" spawned a national craze at that time. The star-studded cast also includes Ko Su (Green Rose), Kim Ha Neul (90 Days of Love), and Jo In Sung (Something Happened in Bali) - all of whose careers skyrocketed to new levels after the airing of the drama. With a touch of fantasy element previously made famous by Japanese films like Love Letter and Poppoya, Piano offers a unique experience that is certainly worth a watch.

Uhk Gwan (Cho Jae Hyun) is a hopeless low-class loafer in Busan. One day, he learns that he has a 10-year-old son, Jae Soo (Ko Su), and somehow ends up raising the boy. Then he meets a widowed piano teacher with two children, and falls head over hills with her at first sight. The two decide to get married, but Uhk Gwan soon discovers a shocking secret - his biological son Jae Soo and stepdaughter Soo Ah (Kim Ha Neul) are deeply in love with each other. To make matters worse, his other stepson (Cho In Sung) harbors hatred and resentment towards the rest of the family.

Five top stars, two generations of love and hate, one bittersweet concerto.

Hye-rim (Jo Min-Soo) moves to Busan with her two children Kyung-ho (Jo In-Sung) and Su-ah (Kim Ha Neul) to open a piano school. She meets a lowlife gangster named Uk-gwan (Jo Jae-Hyun) who falls in love with Hye-rim and decides to turn his life around. The two of them get married, but tragedy forces Uk-gwan to raise the children on his own. Despite Uk-gwan’s sincere efforts to win over the children, will this makeshift family be able to overcome years of bitterness, resentment, and anger?

A true classic of Korean television, Piano features the all-star cast of acclaimed veteran actors Jo Jae-Hyun (What Planet Are You From?) and Jo Min-Soo (Happy Together, Sandglass) and Korean Wave superstars Kim Ha-Neul (90 Days of Love, Romance, Secret), Go Soo (Green Rose), and Jo In-Sung (Shoot for the Stars, Something Happened in Bali, Spring Days).

This Is A Must See Drama Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Although this drama is slow moving, especially the first 3 episodes, the storyline is very, very, very good.
It's about family and the hardships they endure. The acting by everyone was excellent. The usual stellar performance by Jo In-Sung will not disappoint his fans. This drama is a must see for the deep story it tells.

enjoy every epistle Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
The father character was so well written that he would definitely touch you deeply with his words and actions. I thought he was not a good actor to start with but as you watch, you will come to understand him. I also like the love that the deputy manager had for Kim, so incredible, and the love between friendships among the gangsters turned bakers were also very moving. The Koreans are masters in showing different aspects of love. There was no boring epistle in this drama.

Must see Korean Drama Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
First of all, don't let the first episode fool you. The first episode make you think this is a lousy drama until the last scene. I am a guy. I rarely cry when I watch movie. However, when these little actors came out and started their story, I cried on couple occasions. These little ones did a fabulous job. The overall story is smooth and touching. I think Kim Ha Neul acted so well in this series. Her character is not easy to act but she did it. Her perfomance is so natural and convincing.

This is a must buy. If you are someone who cry very easy. Be aware, this may be hazadous for you.

The Best! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This drama is about family and it's VERY touching. I don't usually cry watching tv shows or movies but when i watched this movie the tears just won't stop flowing. You just feel for each character, the acting is just so great, and the story, number 1.
