YesAsia Editorial Description
Taiwanese girl group S.H.E, formed by Selina, Hebe, and Ella, releases their 10th album Play with 11 playful tracks, proving that music can bring about great fun! The principal track "Chinese Language" mixes Chinese tongue twisters and Western rap, amusing music fans by subverting their usual understanding of the Chinese language. The album also includes the song "Mayday" and "Good Mood, Just Be Yourself", which is produced by David Tao. Apart from singing, Hebe attempted writing lyrics and Selina and Ella tried composing for Play.
This Deluxe Edition comes with the Forever DVD.

Professional Review of "Play (Deluxe Edition) (CD+DVD) (Taiwan Version)"
This professional review refers to Play (Regular Version)
S.H.E. is arguably one of Asia's biggest pop groups thanks to their healthy image, listener-friendly tunes, and respectable singing talents. Their 10th and latest album Play is actually my first complete S.H.E. experience, though I have heard some of their more popular works over the years at my local bubble tea joints. The title Play pretty much sums up their intentions with this album, with 6 out of 11 tracks being upbeat fast-paced tracks perfect for those summer playlists. The album's title may also refer to the producers' choice to play with existing songs, with four tracks that sample at least parts of other songs. "Thanks For Your Tenderness" (Track 2) combines an original verse with the chorus of band Mayday's "Tenderness" (sung by boy band Fahrenheit here); "Listen to Yuen Wei Ren Play the Guitar" (Track 3) is the cover of an original song made popular by the internet; "Excuses" (Track 5) combines different Jay Chou signature styles with his song titles sprinkled throughout the lyrics; and "London Bridge Falls Down" (Track 8) liberally builds another bubble gum pop track around the famous children's song. Out of the four, only "Yuen Wei Ren" really manages to stand out thanks to its genuine attempt to tell a story (a songwriter inspired by the songs of Yuen Wei Ren) and the mix of rap with the usual dependable vocals. On the other hand, the use of Mayday's song in "Thanks for Your Tenderness" comes off as contrived, as producer Bing Wang fails to blend the two melodies (and the two sets of vocals) into a coherent whole. The Jay Chou homage "Excuses" does little more than show lyricist Chen Cheng's dubious ability to throw a set of lyrics together with Jay Chou song titles. Lastly, "London Bridge Falls Down" is fun for what it is - an entertaining filler track. S.H.E. also tries to inject a new sound this time around by recruiting new songwriters, including Mainland singer-songwriter Li Quan for "Farewell Cambridge" (Track 7), an elegantly written track that gets bogged down by excess production, as the arrangement lacks any of the European elegance the melody tries to convey. Faring slightly better is "Good Mood Just Be Yourself" (Track 10) by David Tao and his frequent lyricist Hua Hua. Created as a song for a commercial, Tao delivers a fun upbeat song where the girls' energy can be easily heard, though it's also a somewhat disappointing work from someone of Tao's caliber. "Boom" (Track 6) brings on a team of Canadian songwriters for an entertaining Western-style dance track that effectively sets up S.H.E. to show off their sexy side in a music video. Leave it to a member of S.H.E. to be the best guest composer in Play. The members all make their own musical contributions to the album, with Selina and Hebe penning lyrics to "Wife" (Track 11) and "Say You Love Me" (Track 9), respectively. The results are simple pop lyrics that actually qualify as solid debuts. Meanwhile, Ella wrote the music for "Wife," and manages to deliver a breezy relaxing melody that is as pleasant as it is listener-friendly. Producer Bing Wang also effectively keeps things simple by giving it a playful carnival-like arrangement to wrap up the album on a high note. S.H.E. also plays around with a new genre this time around - rap. Opening track "Chinese" (Track 1) ironically boasts Chinese culture using tongue twisters delivered in a distinctly American musical style, ultimately resulting in an effort that feels more contrived than fresh. S.H.E. built their fanbase with listener-friendly tunes that show off their vocals, and the rap tracks fail to play to their strengths. In fact, one can only explain S.H.E.'s attempt to try rap as either (1) an outdated attempt to cash in on a popular genre, or (2) an earnest endeavor to try a new genre they have yet to explore. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt and give their musical team the appropriate credit for trying to surprise loyal fans. Play may not be a very spectacular album, but it packs enough wholesome fun to make this the summer pop album to beat. by Kevin Ma |

I don't usually write review for products, but after watching this DVD i felt compelled to write a review. If you like pop music infused with a bit of rap, this DVD is for you. It's great because it has all of the MV's from S.H.E's Play album, the making of of three of the MV's, and also has an entire concert included. All of the songs are very listenable, but my personal favorites are chinese language, london bridge is falling down, excuse, say you love me by hebe, and wife. All of the girls are very bubbly and cute, but I think Ella really shines during the concert. My mom watched this DVD with me and she loved it too. I've probably watched this a total of 8 times so far. It was worth the money. Great buy! |

Upon popping this DVD into your player, you are pleasantly welcomed by beautiful images of the three S.H.E girls: Selina, Hebe, and Ella. There is just no other way to describe how wonderful the songs on this DVD are. My one year old niece couldn't take her eyes off the television during Track 2, Track 3, and especially Track 8. Overall, this is just a wonderful music video DVD for S.H.E fans and non-S.H.E fans alike. My whole family was able to enjoy the music and wonderful scenery in each music video. And trust me, they are very hard to please music-wise!
So in conclusion, this DVD is for anyone out there who is looking to enjoy pure, fun, and easy-going music. And to make your purchase even more gratifying, a WHOLE concert is actually included in this DVD! |

Just plain fun pop music!
I'm just going to make this simple and short. S.H.E does a great job with their 10th album, Play, which sounds very well done. The songs make me want to jump up. What I like about "Play" is that S.H.E goes diverse from pop to ballad and even rap. Sounds like S.H.E had fun recording the album! I recommend checking it out. |

I think this DVD is particularly good since it contains not only the MV for 11 new songs, but also the record of the Live. It means that you could see two ways of S.H.E's singing of their new songs, both in MV and in Live.
In particular, I think the best MVs are : 1. Chinese Language 2. Good Mood-Just Be Yourself Regarding the Live, these three girls played Wife together using the same piano, and they sang it in such a touching way. |
