Bringing together two generations of great actors, TVB's 2003 anniversary series Point of No Return is a grand period drama about the struggle for power, money, and love in 1920s China. Veteran actor Damian Lau reunites with his screen partner Angie Chiu, who returned to acting in 2003 after years of semi-retirement. Television viewers were thrilled to see this golden couple of the 1970s gracing the small screen together again after so many years. On the younger end, the pairing of popular actors Julian Cheung and Charmaine Sheh, whose previous performances in Return of the Cuckoo made them one of the most memorable television couples of the 2000s, is also a great draw for the drama.

Shipping magnate Chow Ming Hin (Damian Lau) heads one of the biggest shipping companies in 1920s Guangzhou. Power and wealth do not come easy however, and Chow must carry the burden of protecting and expanding this 50-year family business. In addition to fending off the constant competition and dirty tricks of industry rivals, he must also deal with the conflicts and power struggle within his own family and his relationship with his true love (Angie Chiu), whom he has kept in the shadow for years. When Chow falls ill, the company comes to the hands of his aimless and irresponsible son, Tin Chi (Julian Cheung), who is uninterested in running the business. Rivals quickly take advantage of the situation, and soon Tin Chi and the company are faced with a crisis situation.

CHOW MING HIN (LAU CHUNG YAN) is the third generation decision maker of Kwong Wan Transport Company. He is under enormous pressure at work and from family conflicts. Even his wife, LEE TAK YUNG (LUI SHAN), cannot ease the pressure. Within the whole family, only the servant maid, NG YUK HING (CHIU NGAR CHI), understands him. HIN plans to marry HING as his second wife. However, rumor has it that the wedding is cancelled…

HO SHEUNG HEI (SHEH CHARMAINE), who comes from a poor family, is secretly in love with CHAN KAI TONG (CHENG KEVIN). CHOW TIN CHI (CHEUNG CHI LAM), who has fallen in love with HEI without himself realizing it, does all he can to mess her dates with TONG. Later, CHI ignores his mother, YUNG’s, objections and is determined to be with HEI. When HIN has an accident, CHI has to learn how to run the family business.
