Developed by Game Freak, the action RPG is set in a bygone era of Sinnoh, the setting of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Explore the expansive natural environs of Hisui, as it was called then, to survey, research and capture wild Pokemon and build the region's first Pokedex. In your surveying missions into the wild, you'll come across noble Pokemon with mysterious powers that must be quelled in battle with special balms. There are also new Pokemon, unique Hisuian forms of Pokemon, and the mythical Pokemon Arceus that holds the key to this Pokemon legend.

融合了「動作」與「RPG」的《寶可夢》系列最新作品。

本遊戲的冒險舞台是以廣大自然景觀為特色的「洗翠地區」。那是尚未有寶可夢訓練家或寶可夢聯盟等概念的過去時代的故事，這個地方最終將被稱作「神奧地區」。

主角冒險目的，是要製作這個地區第一本寶可夢圖鑑。以與研究寶可夢生態的「拉苯博士」的相遇為契機，主角作為以「祝慶村」為據點進行活動的「銀河隊」的成員，對寶可夢的生態展開調查。

在遊戲世界縱橫馳騁，捕捉許多寶可夢來逐步完成圖鑑這個《寶可夢》系列代代傳承下來的遊戲特色之外，還增加了嶄新的動作要素。 配合棲息在自然環境中的寶可夢們的行動，一邊隱藏一邊接近，瞄準目標投擲精靈球來捕捉寶可夢，又或是以對戰消耗寶可夢的體力來捕捉，帶來有別於至今《寶可夢》系列的遊戲特色。

另外，除了增加「剛猛」和「迅疾」等嶄新的對戰系統，全新登場的寶可夢，以及與在其他地區長相不同的寶可夢也會現身。 能夠享受與寶可夢們的嶄新冒險。

握有故事關鍵的寶可夢——「阿爾宙斯」 傳說中孕育出世界萬物的寶可夢，到底和這個故事有怎樣的關係呢？
