YesAsia Editorial Description

Packed to the seams with stunning car chases, fast-paced fights, mind-blowing finales, and heart-stopping stunts, international action star Jackie Chan's blockbuster Police Story films are among Hong Kong's most classic action films. Chan created one of his most iconic onscreen images in heroic police enforcer Chan Ka Kui, who wreaks amazing destruction while saving lives. Police Story, which earned a Best Picture award at the 5th Annual Hong Kong Film Awards, redefined action films with its undeniably creative and exquisitely choreographed mayhem, and Jackie Chan fine-tuned the formula with even more unbelievable stunts and breathtaking fights in the following two sequels. The series' also boasts three of the industry's top actresses - Brigitte Lin, Michelle Yeoh and Maggie Cheung - in the unforgettable female lead roles. This Police Story Blu-ray Boxset comes with all three films in the series.

Police Story (1985)
It all begins here! Jackie Chan is cop Chan Ka Kui, who's assigned to guard beautiful witness Selina (Brigitte Lin), the girlfriend of evil drug kingpin Chor Yuen. Selina's presence causes some friction between Chan and his petulant girlfriend May (international star Maggie Cheung), but when the bad guys come-a-calling, all that gets left behind. Glass breaks, bones crunch, and anything and everything becomes a weapon in Police Story!

Police Story 2 (1988)
As if Hong Kong needed more collateral damage from Jackie Chan, along comes Police Story 2. Chan returns as cop Chan Ka Kui, who's saddled with a trio of problematic plots that would bring even down the toughest guy. Some mad bombers are threatening Hong Kong, so Chan is put on the case to sniff out the bad guys. However, Chan simultaneously must contend with the creeps from the original Police Story, who've returned to annoy him with their smarmy attitudes. AND there's Chan's increasingly grumpy girlfriend May (Maggie Cheung, given a bigger role in this sequel), who's a little sick and tired of playing second-fiddle to drug dealers and mad bombers. Things reach a head in the explosive finale in an abandoned factory, where Chan Ka Kui must fend off three kung-fu fighting foes who are holding May hostage.

Police Story 3 (1992)
Released in the West as simply Supercop, Police Story 3: Super Cop was the film that introduced Hong Kong Cinema to many Western moviegoers, who became instant fans of both Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh. After Chan's last two property damage-filled exploits, the Royal Hong Kong Police Force sends him to team up with Michelle Yeoh's Mainland cop to track the movements of evil bad guy Panther (Yuen Wah). The two go undercover as Panther's comrades, and their journey takes them all across Asia until their final stop in Malaysia, which features a run-in with Chan's girlfriend May (the returning Maggie Cheung), and an amazing car-helicopter-motorcycle-train chase sequence that must be seen to be believed!

Blu-Ray Quality is disappointing Customer Review Rated Bad 2 - 2 out of 10
I bought this set although I already have all the DVDs because I was hoping the video quality will be better. Imagine my disappointment when the video turned out to be the same or even worse than the DVD. The colours are washed out , the resolution is grainy despite the supposedly 1080P HD rating. Compared to another Jackie Chan movie " Accidental Spy " where the restored colors are lush and rich, this box set is a waste of money. Don't get this Set! I hope another studio does a better job of restoration and enhancement. It's such a disservice to Jackie's hard work and skills to release such a poor quality Blu-ray.

Nice box Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
The box is really nice to have in your collection. Comes complete with a photo album too, although useless. This is a really well designed boxset.

Video quality is excellent, not bad job by IVL, colours are rich, and brightness is just right.

The addition of DTS always draws me in, but this time was quite dissapointed. Sub was used with great effect, however the surround use was lacking. Despite the 5.1, I preferred the original 2.0, the DTS sounds too manufactured which left me quite dissapointed, and as the surround was lacking, I wasn't missing much either.

Best possible presentation of classic JC. Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
The PS trilogy is, of course, a must watch for any JC fan, or anyone who just loves HK movies.

This set looks and sounds loads better than any previous time I'm seen it, including 35mm prints.

The Cantonese DTS is nice and clear, and doesn't sound processed or "tinny" like the remastered tracks on the OUaTIC remasters out earlier this year from Fortune Star did.

For 10-20 year old HK movies, all three are really well preserved, and the choice of Chinese or English menus in a plus.

The Extras are nice (photobook, plus a little feature on each dvd) but some input from the man himself would have been great.
