Huang Pin Yuan returned to Taiwanese TV drama after a 10-year absence with SETTV Taiwan Channel's Rainy Night Flower, which earned him a nomination for Best Leading Actor at the 47th Golden Bell Awards. The veteran singer-actor stars in this sixties drama as Tsai Hsin Hsiung, a righteous and respected local gang boss who fell from grace at a young age when he willingly served time for an offense his younger brother Hsin Chih (Edison Lin) committed. Hsin Hsiung marries food hawker Liu Yueh Kuei (singer Sun Shu Mei), eliciting the jealousy of brothel madam Lin Kuei Chu (Jessie Chang), who has long had a crush on him. Kuei Chu then colludes with a thug named Lee Chu Shan (Wang Kai) to kidnap and rape Yueh Kuei, resulting in the latter losing her sanity. Meanwhile, Hsin Chih, a rookie cop freshly graduated from the academy, struggles to come to terms with the fact that his loving big brother has fallen in with the gang...
