Korekurai no Sayonara (Normal Edition)(Japan Version)February 8, 2015 damaged case
Honestly, this is possibly my favorite CD from Secret because the songs are feminine and sweet without being sugary.
Now, Yesasia. The CD that arrived was in good condition, played without problem, but the plastic case is kinda chipped, or like... I don't know how to describe it but it's like the edge got crunched a bit. Anyway, I don't know if it's Yesasia's fault so I'm not going to return it or ask for a refund. It is a bit annoying, though.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Ailee Mini Album Vol. 1 - InvitationJanuary 1, 2015 solid
Ailee's easily the best singer of the current idols in K-pop (there are better singers who don't count as idols or at least no longer do). There's also a more relaxed, natural, confident feeling to her singing that the majority of Korean idols lack. 6 solid tracks is a lot of bang for your buck relative to other K-pop albums, just saying. AOA Single Album Vol. 3 - MoyaJanuary 1, 2015 supporting AOA Black
FNC's specialty is and has always been rock, not dance. I also appreciate that Youkyoung is a drummer; her ambition is as a drummer and so far, she does not appear to have been swayed from that. However, recently AOA White has been promoting as AOA and I just think that if Youkyung were to be phased out, it'd be a real pity. My dollar vote is for more AOA black. The Things We Do For Love (2CD) (Hong Kong Version)January 1, 2015 easy listening
I have 2 complaints.
1. The packaging is really confusing and hard to open because it's all packed together really tightly in its box. I don't mean the wrapping, I mean the actual box. I haven't listened more than twice because I inwardly groan at the thought of getting the CD out. The CDs go in a thing that folds together a certain way, and then that's stuffed into a sleeve, and I'm not sure which side is up and which side is down, which side is the front and which side is the back.
2. Lemon Tree is not the Lemon Tree that I know (I know the "Lemon tree, very pretty, and the lemon flower is sweet/ but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat" song). Usually when Joanna Wang sings a song with a familiar title, it's exactly the song that I know, tastefully arranged. I have never heard of this Lemon Tree and that was kind of disappointing.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

IU Mini Album Vol. 3 - Real (Normal Edition)
(8)Our Price: US$10.99List: US$16.99Save: US$6.00 (35%)January 1, 2015 the peak of IU's popularityWith the track Good Day, which contains IU's infamous 5-tier sustained note that dropkicked her to the center of major buzz, Real is a staple album for casual IU listeners. Don't buy Real for the album art, though. She has the weirdest eyelash thing going that I have no love for. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

January 1, 2015 nostalgic
I used to work with students from China, and I hit it off with one of the kids who said that she didn't know why but she associated me with Wang Ruo-lin. I didn't immediately make the connection but when she played the song on her phone, I realized that we'd been listening to the same album.
Anyways. My favorite track is definitely Rose, Rose, I Love You, and Joanna Wang is a singer that is very compatible with young people who have an old soul. Or maybe not an old soul but a timeless one. This album is for people who can feel young when listening to old songs.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Midnight CinemaJanuary 1, 2015 pricey but good songs
I definitely made the right choice in buying Midnight Cinema. I mainly bought it for You Only Live Twice (my least favorite Bond film but my favorite Bond theme song). Every time my parents overhear it, they ask where it came from because they don't know her but she sings throwback songs that they appreciate, and I don't feel bored by the easy listening. Younha Vol. 3 - Part. B : Growing SeasonJanuary 1, 2015 a return
Younha's transition to Korea was a rocky one. The Perfect Day To Say I Love You dressed our favorite girl next door in fashionable babydoll dresses and themed jewelry, added rap lines by Real Slow, and pushed her into her first kiss. Comet touched base with her Japanese album but continued the attempt to be edgy with lots of eyeliner. Someday was interesting musically and visually but also very different. Pink and sugary, Peace Love & Ice Cream was the singularly most mystifying of all the albums--from the pretty but aimless title track to the aegyo-licious 1, 2, 3.
I was dangerously close to forswearing my loyalty to Younha (because I was unfamiliar with the Korean industry's style of forcing "concept" experimentation on its performers and assumed that Younha had sold out) when Growing Season appeared and for once, it was the same Younha, more mature but not a totally different person.Did you find this review helpful? Other than that... I'm sure that Lee Moon-se wouldn't really be considered classic rock but his singing style gives me, personally, that kind of feeling. It's interesting to listen to what feels like grandpa era popular music but if it hadn't been on sale ($4!) I wouldn't have bought it.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Road For HopeJanuary 1, 2015 philanthropic effort
The first track opens with a long, dramatic monologue in Korean and I really wish that I knew what it said because it might lend more meaning to this album. Other than Gift, the tracks are usually a good singer paired with an actor (with varying levels of singing ability) and really generic Korean ballads. If you're going to buy it, you shouldn't expect much musically and do it for the warm and fuzzy feeling that your money is (probably) going to a (probably) charitable cause. (Yikes.) January 1, 2015 good for sharingOK for all you K-pop evangelists (you know who you are!), instead of sharing your faves, this album is a good starting point for people who ask why on earth you listen to "kay pop". It combines the melodic songwriting of Fukuyama Masaharu who is apparently a classic pop artist in Japan--I'd never heard of him before but these songs are pretty solid so I totally understand that he's good--and the voices of Korean singers, including idols Bæst (Cube), G.NA (Cube), and 2AM (JYP/Big Hit). It also may interest K-pop enthusiasts in some of the non-idols that Koreans listen to, for people who are simply interested in the culture, because of international friendships or any other reason. What I really like about this group is that each song that she's released is on a studio album. Maybe not the acoustic versions, but all the A sides are somewhere in the first three albums and all the B sides are in My Short Stories.
I call it the conclusion of an era and not the end of an era because it's kind of the album that wraps up that first round of joy that began with Feel My Soul.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Yui - I Loved Yesterday (Korea Version)December 31, 2014 must buy
If you listen to YUI, then From Me To You, Can't Buy My Love, I Loved Yesterday, and My Short Stories need to be in your library and that is all there is to it. Every song is a song that I'm happy to get stuck in my head, but I have a soft spot for Am I Wrong... but honestly, I wouldn't call that song a favorite by more than a fraction of a point. For someone who doesn't want to pierce ears like me (if anyone gets violently pissed off at me, I don't want them ripping my ears), though, these are desirable.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

If you wear it with the wingtips pointing with your fingertips, it doesn't complement the angle at which your fingers naturally fall, and if you wear it with the wingtips pointed towards your carpals, it kind of digs into your hand. December 24, 2014 pretty
Precious is kind of a remix of Be With You., just a heads up, but if you want a pretty CD and like the song(s), and are not interested in all of the other songs on The Face... if you're more of a 10 Promises To My Dog person than a BoA person, I would just stick with this CD. It's better to just spend money on things that you KNOW you want than to spend your money on a whole thing if you're only interested in a small part of it. Did you find this review helpful? time to... (Japan Version)December 24, 2014 props to the art team
If you open the booklet, you might notice that there is one "concept", not the usual three to five, and the clothing choice is pretty Oppa Next Doorsy. It suits him (although the pants look uncomfortable when he's sitting, so I think they could've used better pants).
Anyway. The actual CD is kind of a mediocre mess, and I say this as someone who thinks he's the prettiest thing. I feel like after he was split from FTI, FNC had no idea what to do with him. Some of the songs are OK but most of them don't have a real sense of identity, and they don't grab your attention. FNC should have sold his contract to a company like Loen, for example, someone who could have made a real hit out of him.
So while I really wanted him to be as popular as, say, J Rabbit, I understand why he's a nugu.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

SHINee Style - Water Drop Ear-cuff (Crystal)
(1)Our Price: US$8.99List: US$11.99Save: US$3.00 (25%)December 24, 2014 reasonably comfortableThe ear cuff is pretty standard as cuffs go. It looks pretty much the same as it does in the example images (except Onew somehow manages to keep his water drops on without it cuffing into his ear like it does for us normal human beings, so... I'm not sure what's going on there). I mean, I've worn it for several hours now (maybe 9 hours or so) and it's not like... excessively painful... so I like it. Did you find this review helpful?
