YesAsia Editorial Description

In its 18–year history, the Rurouni Kenshin story has been told in a popular manga series, multiple anime series, several OVAs and even audio books. Now, the story of a pacifist vagabond has become a live-action film! Director Otomo Keishi (Taiga drama Ryomaden) offers an action-packed trilogy on the story of Kenshin, with up-and-coming young star Sato Takeru taking the title role. The blockbuster trilogy also stars Takei Emi (For Love's Sake) as kendo instructor Kaoru and Aoi Yu as Megumi. The series' thrilling action sequences are choreographed by Tanigaki Kenji, who has worked as stunt coordinator with action superstar Donnie Yen on SPL, Flashpoint and Wu Xia.

Rurouni Kenshin (2012)
Battosai (Sato Takeru) was a proud samurai who decided to give up his way of life after fighting in the bloody battle of Toba-Fushima. Ten years later, samurais are now mercenaries working for merchants like Kanryu (Kagawa Teruyuki), who oppress the people for their own gain. When kendo instructor Kaoru tries to stand up to Kanryu, she is saved by Battosai, now a wanderer named Kenshin. After losing his samurai status, Kenshin has renounced killing and is committed to peace. However, in a world filled with opportunists and oppressors like Kanryu, Kenshin will have to learn how to fight back without breaking his vow.

Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno (2014)
After the events of the first film, Kenshin has been living in peace in the dojo run by Kaoru. However, the peace is broken when Shishio Makoto (Fujiwara Tatsuya) rises up as a powerful force against the Meiji government. A dangerous and ruthless assassin, Shishio was recruited by the government to help defeat the shogunate after Kenshin took his pacifist vow. However, after the Meiji government won the battle, the authorities tried to kill Shishio by burning him alive, leaving him with permanent burn damage all over his body. Seeking revenge for the betrayal, the disfigured Shishio plans to slowly take over the country, from one town to another. With no other choice, the government recruits Kenshin to hunt down Shishio and his gang. After some consideration, Kenshin agrees to travel to Kyoto to stop Shishio for the sake of maintaining peace in the new Japan.

Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends (2014)
After the events of Kyoto Inferno, Kenshin is rescued by Seijuro (Fukuyama Masaharu), the swordsman who taught Kenshin everything he knows about swordsmanship. After a lengthy training, Kenshin recovers and is ready to continue his pursuit of Shishio, who is taking his battleship to attack Edo. Meanwhile, Aoshi (Iseya Yusuke), who is still out to defeat Kenshin to avenge his fallen comrades, is approaching closer to his target.

Product Information

In 1868, after the end of the Bakumatsu war, former legendary assassin Kenshin Himura (Takeru Sato) has now become a wandering samurai. Offerring aid and protecting those in need as atonement for his past deeds. During this time Kenshin Himura comes across and aides Kaoru Kamiya (Emi Takei). Her father opened the Kamiya Kasshin-ryu, a kendo school located in Tokyo and Kaoru is now an instructor there. Kaoru then invites Kenshin to stay at her dojo. Their relationship develops further, but Kenshin is still haunted by his violent past.

Kenshin Himura is a legendary swordsman in the wars accompanying the turbulent fall of Japan's Shogunate in the 19th century. Once feared as 'Battosai the Killer', he has adopted a peaceful life since the arrival of the 'new age'.
As Makoto Shishio, the 'Shadow Killer' who succeeded to Kenshin's position, knew too much of the dark side of the new government, he was stabbed and his body set on fire on the rise of the new age; However, he survived, and, wrapped in bandages, he has since then been scheming in the Kyoto underworld, and raised an army of disaffected former samurai with the aim of overthrowing the new regime. Agreeing to a request by the new government to defeat Shishio, Kenshin leaves his beloved ones in Tokyo and sets out for Kyoto. He and Shishio are a match in skill and in wits, but their aims are opposite. Can Kenshin preserve the nation without breaking his vow that he will kill no more?

To defeat Makoto Shishio who aims to conquer Japan, Kenshin arrives in Kyoto and tries to face the troop of Shishio. However, his mighty enemy is ready to start invading Tokyo with the steel-reinforced battleship. To help captured Kaoru who is thrown into the sea by Shishio, Kenshin also dives in to save her but is washed ashore alone, unconscious. As he recovers with the help of Seijuro Hiko, the master of Kenshin who happens to find him on the shore, Kenshin realizes he may be no match for Shishio now and asks the master to give the ultimate technique of the sword style. On the one hand, Shishio finds that Kenshin is still alive, and then he orders the government to execute Kenshin. Confronting warrior after warrior, can Kenshin beat the last but the most madly opponent Makoto Shishio?
