Director Pan Nalin's masterpiece
Director Pan Nalin's masterpiece
"Samsara" is a film of stunning beauty and depth. Shawn Ku stars as Tashi, a young Buddhist monk. After spending over three years in a deep meditative state, Tashi emerges to find himself disturbed by strong sexual yearnings, urges that are compounded when he (literally) bumps into the lovely Pema (Christy Chung). Tashi decides that he must leave behind the monastic life to seek Pema's love. After winning Pema's hand in marriage, Tashi responds to the complications and temptations of the world by behaving in increasingly weak-willed ways. Tashi then becomes consumed by guilt. How will he respond? Both Ku and Chung deliver wonderfully strong and nuanced performances. The film's story is told with refreshing frankness, honesty, and astonishing visual beauty. (I wish I could see its spectacular vistas on a movie theater's wide screen!) I highly recommend "Samsara" for a mature audience. |

You Just Need To See It
You Just Need To See It
No one loves Asian Film more than me. I found this movie quite by accident and I must say I just loved it. Provacative and Spiritual all in one breath. It catches you off guard. The scenery, the emotion, the spirituality and the passion are all equally beautiful in this movie. A must see!! |

A Masterpiece
A Masterpiece
It is so sad that very few people in Hong Kong and China understand or enjoy this movie. It prooves how low is our taste when it comes to entertainment. For me, this film is a rare gem. The film is full of wisdom and wit. Amazing Christy Chung for the first time she prooves that she is a brilliant actress. There are very few film in the world which inspire us to question. Maybe that is the reason the film is a worldwide hit without any stars! There are very few exceptional love stories in cinema these days. SAMSARA is a fantastic love story. SAMSARA is truely enlightening. I could not belive this is a first feature of franco-indian writer and director Pan Nalin. No wonder whole Hollywood is chasing him because there are not many directors who make a masterpice debut. (Please watch the movie at one go, with lights and phone off and then you will feel the magic of SAMSARA.) |
