Following the record-smashing success of Dangal, Aamir Khan again discusses important social and gender issues within a crowd-pleasing coming-of-age story in Secret Superstar. The Bollywood superstar produces and co-stars in the musical blockbuster written and directed by Advait Chandan. Teen actress Zaira Wasim, who made her debut as the young Geeta Phogat in Dangal, takes on another strong and inspiring role as a girl who dares to sing.

Talented 14-year-old girl Insia Malik (Zaira Wasim) dreams of becoming a singer, but her abusive father (Raj Arjun) disapproves and tramples on her aspirations. After receiving a laptop from her mom (Meher Vij), Insia begins to record and upload videos of her singing on YouTube under the username "Secret Superstar." To hide her identity, she wears a niqab in the videos which soon go viral. Insia's videos catch the attention of eccentric music director Shakti Kumar (Aamir Khan), who seeks her out for a collaboration.
