Alone in Love (English Subtitled) (SBS TV Series)June 29, 2015 depressing and funny
It' s not often I watching something that can make me laugh and cry at the same time, but this show does it perfectly.
Gam woo seong and Son ye jin have a nice chemistry together and the supporting cast do a great job too.
Too be honest, I have not watched too many Korean tv shows, I mainly watch Korean movies, but the tv shows I have seen have been to fairly tale/ unrealistic for my liking. Here, the cast's lives, jobs, houses, etc, are believable, which definitely helps to connect with the characters.
I am not going to talk about the content of the series, as my main intention is to try and improve the 3 star rating it has received, plus I am not very good and writing or explaining my thoughts.

March 17, 2011 Response to Lloyd
I know, my reply is a few years late but I cannot believe Lloyd's stupidity. Peppermint Candy is undoubtedly one of the best Korean films ever made, In my opinion it is the greatest Korean film ever made and my Favorite film of all time. My major is Korean and History and I have to concur with Bill's reply to Lloyd's totally clueless review. Please, Lloyd, do yourself a favor, in future if you don't want to look like a complete numskull I suggest you don't review films that you don't understand. Silly man. Your stupidity surpasses you.

December 13, 2010 If ya don't get, don't bother reviewing it!
Well, like the title suggests some people who watched this film clearly did not get it. Hey, I am not saying I understood what was going on 100% of the time but then again I would not give a film a low score just because I didn't understand it fully; I simply would not write a review about it.
I have seen literally hundreds of Korean films from popular titles like 'Old Boy' to lesser known titles such as 'Taxi Blues'. And to be honest its the less well known films that tend to be the best. 'A Bizzare Love Triangle', happens to be one of my favourite Korean movies, every scene is fantastic. I wish I could give an in depth analysis of this film but I am just no good at that type of thing. I just wanted to mention that out of the hundreds of Korean films I have seen that this is one of the best, in my humble opinion that is.
The humour in this film is extremely dry and dark, it is not slap-stick or 'American Pie'. So don't expect, as some reviewers below have, that if something does not conform to your expected cultural and ideological set norms, that it is crap.
I apologise if what I have wrote is a bit incoherent, but like I said, I am not good at writing reviews.
This is a great film. However, if slap-stick comedy, horror or martial arts films are more your cup of tea then you should probably stay away from this film.

March 20, 2010 Lee Chang Dong's 2nd best film
I am not going to go into a detailed analytical review of this film, I do not have time. So all I will say is that this film is amazing, by far the second best Lee Chang Dong film. Jeon Do Yeon's performance is phenomenal. Before I saw this film I did not particularly rate her, however, the way she carries this film almost single handedly deserves the up most respect. The acting, story, directing and script are all first class, but with Mr Lee at the helm it is not a surprise.

I was pretty excited about the release of this DVD. I am a student of Korean Language and history and have a deep interest in Korean film.
When the film arrived I was even more anxious to watch it. it is packaged wonderfully, nice booklet, and great little post card set.
Last Night I watched May 18 and all I can say is how disappointed am am right now! There was no background to the events leading up to the event so first off this film is not very inciteful for foreigners, like myself. I know, I said I was student of Korean, so I do know about it already. However, the film looses all focus due to the most important information being obselete. The "uprising" or "massacre", however you want to say, kicks of immediately. Sorry, unless the scene of some planes flying to Kwangju are supposed to explain the political situation.
I know what happened in Kwanju, but the poor direction of the film left me indifferent to the scenes on offer to me. Obviously this was made just for Koreans, but there still needs to be a story of what actually led to the events on may 18 occuring. The film just concentrated on the violence. Sure thats important, but if we don't know how the situation in Kwangju erupted then I think it will be difficult for the film to entice any serious sympathy or emotion. May 18 is one of the most important events in Korean history, this film should have been a reflection of that, sadly it was not.
