Is it me, or is it 'Pirates' T-ara style? Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Well, T-ara is back as a group with 'AND&END', a year after 'Again'. Aiming for the EDM genre, let's see if they live up to their goal.

1. Sugar Free: Though not a huge fan of EDM, I think "Sugar Free" is a pretty good first venture into the genre and it suits T-ara, being a dance music group. There are a swathe of electronic sounds and ample bass to make it a legitimate contender for a something you might hear in an actual club. High energy permeates the song and screams at you to get on the dance floor. If anything, "Sugar Free" shares the most in common with their 2013 tune "Number 9", but has an even heavier techno sound. My only nitpicks are the intro and the hook phrase. Perhaps it's just me, but the first 30s sound like a techno of the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' tune - I always thought someone would do it, now one of my favorite artists really did. Likewise, the hook phrase 'sugar free' is a little strange in the English-speaking parts of the world - 'roly poly' and 'number 9' aren't that common, but 'sugar free' comes up all the time in a country where people are trying to cut down on glucose intake. To hear it in a title track is on the odd side. I recommend you listen to the song first before picking it up.

2. ORGR: I would probably best describe "ORGR" as a hip-hop song with K-Pop flavoring thrown in. If you're familiar with other Korean girl groups, I would say this sounds like something out of 4minute's book. Record-scratching, digitized noises and vocals, and a strong beat all point in that direction.

3. I Don't Want You: A cheery, slower pop track. The voices are picked carefully, with the tenors put towards the back and the altos and sopranos singing the main lines. "I Don't Want You", notably, has the markings of an older song, like something that might have had been influenced by a musical.

4. Last Calendar: The quintessential ballad. Not much to say here, other than that T-ara has a lot of experience with these and that they have the vocals to support it.

5. When I See Her: Another lighter-toned pop track, similar to #3. If you're an avid T-ara follower and this track sounds familiar, it might be because it has a similar feel to Jiyeon's solo debut tune, "1min1sec".

Now the verdict. If you're not sure about the new sound, watch the MV and make your own judgment. Even if you don't like EDM but like the T-ara style, there are plenty of good tracks on this album. I'm going to give 'AND&END' a yes.

Tara looking and sounding gooood! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Well I just listened to my copy of T-ara’s And&End last night, come to say something here and now we have the girls’ doing a signed addition. Blimey! Okay, I’ll get another, a signed copy then ;) I like the somewhat gothic mood here on this mini album, it works well although I prefer the back hard cover group shot of T-ara to the albeit very nice cover photo. The girls ripped jeans look (well here somewhat but more so with T-ara's TV Sugar Free promo mode) gives me some parallel nostalgia of an extrovert school mate of mine who had his prideful pair of torn knee jeans (ripped himself with a pair of scissors from a brand new pair of denims for the heavy rock look..the way it was mostly done then),The Ramones and moody covers of Deep Purple albums from our pre/post school years in the 70s. I unfortunately didn’t have ripped knee jeans in those days as if I did my mum would have gone!

The T-ara And&End package is a thick hard back cover with pasted to back inside cover chunky photo booklet. The booklet features T-ara’s mostly deadpan and serious looking photos (sorta like moody Deep Purple) inside continue the serious mood and melancholic vibe. Main song ‘Sugar Free’ track is a nice roomy boomy electronic dance with a T-ara type hook that I like and a song that needs that extra sweet bag of alternate remix versions and the T-ara EDM club edition looks inviting. Although hopefully good quality remixes, for me like Visage ‘Hearts and Knives’ and its individual single dance remixes like ‘She’s Electric’. I’m still getting into this mini’s other T-ara songs (like ORGR and If I See Her) but overall it’s a more preferable T-ara for me (Jiyeon and Hyomin, I do like ya solos). Tara’s And&End though resonates more with me, and I think cutesy but darker music along with nice passionate ballads continue to allow T-ara more appeal to a wider spectrum. I’m pleased that T-ara are doing alright with this new one (cheer up girls, though, ;) and I feel that T-ara don’t need to have to always do the sexy cute thing for appeal. Why not do a bluesy acoustic ballad with Eunjung on guitar for another vibe!? Anyway T-ara are alriiggtht as they really are in the whatever :D

T-ara - Keep it going, keep happy (a bit moody in ripped jeans as well), keep fun crazy – but never allow yourselves any overwhelming negativity towards despondency. NSD! (I’ve gotta give you five what now with up and coming autographs).

T-ara at its best! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
The best T-ara songs have always had this epic heart stirring tone for me and this album doesn't disappoint. The title song Sugar Free is just a cool, heart pumping song that perfectly fuses EDM with T-ara's signature retro-electro. From the aggresive intro to the addictive chorus, Sugar Free just shows how T-ara can sound fierce-sexy and cute-innocent at the same time. Then there are the non-title songs, which in T-ara fashion sounds just as good as any title songs from most other groups.

Tara new direction - EDM Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
The main song sugar free is first electronic dance music from Tara. Very danceable music and will be very popular across the clubs in Korea. There is very little difference between the big room and the standard version. The slow song "If I see her" is pretty good. I heard remix of the main song "Sugar Free" is coming soon. Overall this album is pretty effort from Tara.
