The Greatest SHOW of All Time! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
After, all is said and done, and, the aliens, from 5000 light-years, away, come to see the remnants of planet Earth, this show will stand eternal testament that humanity existed. To quote Chet Baker, "When my life is through/And, the angels ask me to recall/The thrill of them all/I shall tell them, I remember you!" I love this show. It is the greatest living tome, and work of art, in existence. Nothing, nothing will ever come close to reaching it, even if you take it, apart, and, put it, back, together, again, again, and again, with a million missing parts, it will, still, outlast and outlive us, all. It is the sole reason I am, even, alive, today, and, I'm glad to have watched it. Ride, on shooting Star! Evangelion INFINITY, forever! I love you, "Neon Genesis Evangelion"! And, to all the children in the world, "CONGRATULATIONS!"

Legendary...it's that simple Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This is one of the animes that is a must see if you want to call yourself a fan (or an 'Otaku'). This is one of the most eye-opening animes ever made and was a huge phenomenon when I was young. However, I wouldn't recommend this for children (younger than 14, in my opinion). When I bought this box set and watched it, I personally wished I hadn't watched it until I was a bit earlier. I wouldn't say that it's scary, it just stirs somethhing inside you (especially the 2 ending movies). The gore and action is awesome, but not for youth or someone with a weak stomach.

Neon Genesis Evangelion questions everything about the world we live in. Religion? Government? Hate? Fear? Family? The extent of the Human Heart...? It is moving within itself. You can't help but questioning yourself and the world around you.

Though the main character, Shinji Ikari, is not a person the audience can completely sympathize with, he represents the true essense of fear and low self-esteem in its entirety. Sometimes the audience will feel annoyed with his cowardice and, at times, applaud his accomplishments, but overall, its the people's reactions around him that shape his victories and his downfalls.

As an anime fan for the past ten years, I find that no collection is complete without this series. Hideaki has to be one of the best directors and I give this anime 5/5 Stars.

PS The newer versions of this collection are good as well with digitally remastered sound, but I like the original dubbed voices better than the newly remastered versions. There's just something about having the original in your hands that makes the series worthwild.

Pointless ending Customer Review Rated Bad 3 - 3 out of 10
This anime is quite good from the beginning, but when it comes to neer the end the producer seems a bit lazy to draw, one of the scene near the end it freaze for about 2 minuts.
And the last two episodes are such a waste, they never conclude the story, that all.

my review Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
this region 2 version is significantly better than the us. region 1 release. this title benefits from the evangelion renewal process that was carried out by anno and gainax, as they went back to the original 16mm negatives to remaster it. manga entertainment's release does not have this print, and is 4:3 letterbox not 16:9 widescreen anamorphic. this dvd is quite sharper than the u.s. release and would look fine on a widecreen hdtv display. the american release is much softer in picture quality, though is quite good for the time it was produced 1999 or something, and is the same master anno had for the pre-remastered versions on japanese laserdisc and dvd. but is you want a version that lives up to the hype of modern technology this is the one you want to purchase. alo the dts sound remaster is sigificantly cleaned up over the previous 5.1 and theatrical japanese audio releases.

this version also contains a very nice and clean stereo mix for those who don't have the equipment to reproduce dts sound, a dts decoder or dts compliant receiver are the only drawbacks as i can see.

the one thing otaku's out there may complain about however is that it does not contain the 2.0 stereo dolby surround mix released for theaters, the 2.0 here is a mixdown of the new dts 5.1. the only release that has the thetrical audio as i'm aware of at this point is the rare and very expensive EVA movie boxset released on laserdisc, and is a coveted collector's item. if you already own that you probably wonder why do i need another version? because the image fidelity is a major leap forward, because it a re-master personally overseen by anno, and of course it's EVA the most awesome anime ever made. now that i explained that all that's left to discuss is who do you like better rei or asuka?
