The Little Mermaid gets a K-Drama twist in the delightful tvN fantasy romance series The Idle Mermaid (a.k.a. Surplus Princess). Up-and-coming actress Jo Bo Ah (Shut Up Flower Boy Band) stars as Aileen, a mermaid princess who has fallen in love with a human whom she saved from drowning: Kwon Shi Kyung (Song Jae Rim, The Moon That Embraces the Sun), a celebrity chef suffering from prosopagnosia. She steals a potion to become human, only realizing afterwards that she must find true love in 100 days or she'll turn into bubbles!

Aileen takes up residence at a shared house occupied by young job-searching people, including Lee Hyun Myung (Ohn Joo Wan, The Village: Achiara’s Secret) who is trying to win back his ex-girlfriend (Park Ji Soo, Mai Ratima). Kim Seul Gi (Oh My Ghostess) and Nam Joo Hyuk (Who Are You - School 2015) also co-star as residents of the surplus house that will turn into a precious makeshift family for Aileen over 100 days in which she learns what it means to love and to be human.
