Alex Man, one of Hong Kong's most intriguing actors and also a Golden Horse Award winner, dominated a number of well-made TVB dramas back in the early 90s. From The Justice Of Life (1989), Where I Belong (1990), The Big Family (1991) to The Key Man made in 1992, he has always been leading the cast of TVB'ss anniversary dramas. The Key Man, like all other anniversary dramas, comprises of an extraordinarily strong cast and a serious production team led by the well-known producer Lau Ka Ho. The whole crew even went to Canada and the United States to shoot the drama so that Hong Kong audience can enjoy the beautiful scenery there while watching this exciting 40-episode drama.
The story revolves around the complicated relationships between two big families in Hong Kong – the Hung's and the Lok's. Alex Man of course delivers his best performance. Idy Chan, famous for her unbeatable portrayal as the Dragon Girl in the 1983 version of the Return of the Condor Heroes, and Louise Lee, famous actress in the 80s, both bring the viewers surprises in their re-appearances on TV after all these years. Miss Hong Kong Monica Chan also shows great improvements in this drama and impresses the viewers a lot. Comedian Dicky Cheung and other veterans are also indispensable to the overwhelming success of the drama. No wonder The Key Man succeeded in attaining the highest ratings ever among all Hong Kong TV dramas in 1992.

This may be an old show but I found it intereseting, especailly the first three episodes.
Of all the players, I like Dickey Cheung the best. I like his acting and the storyline about him and his girl friend. Very funny and yet very touching. The key man is too perfect so it borders on being boring. I don't like his love story. I feel like he should have stayed with the original first girl friend. This TV show seems to be a little different than the usualy TVB show. I especailly like the fact that they made time and effort to go to USA to film parts of episdoe |

I like it

This is one of the better production of TVB, especially the first few episodes that were filmed in USA. It got my
attention right away. Then things got really interesting when Dickey Cheung appeared. He brought life and laughter to this show. I like the storyline that involves Dickey Cheung and his gril friend.It is touching and funny at the same time. I don't like the storyline of Alex Man and the two ladies. It is two vague. He should have picked one woman (his first love) . The picture qualty is only average but it is an old show. So, I feel it is good enough. Overall, I recommend this show. |

THE PICTURE IS NOT SHARP
|
BETWEEN EPISODES 14-30 I FEEL PICTURE IN DVD IS NOT SHARP ESPECIALLY WHEN ACTORS AND ACTRESSES HAVE SOME MOVEMENT THE PICTURE OFTEN NOT CLEARED.
ANYONE FEEL LIKE ME PLEASE NOTE TO SHARE IDEA. SHOULD I BOUGHT ANOTHER COPY TO CHECK THE QUALITY? |

The Key Man
The Key Man
| I bought this series because I thought it was "The Edge of Righteousness". I didn´t know the name of the series back then. But I knew that Athena Chu was in "The Edge", so when I got this series I realized that this is another series. I only watched two episodes, it reminded me of "Misery". I stopped watching because the story seemd boring. I can´t tell if this is a good series or not, because I haven´t watched the whole series. |
