The 2012 MBC drama The King 2 Hearts is set in an alternate present-day Korea in which a constitutional monarchy is in place and relations with North Korea are less icy for the time being. This politically intriguing backdrop becomes the unexpected setting for romantic angst and hijinks in the popular drama from the screenwriting duo behind Beethoven Virus. Singer-actor Lee Seung Gi (My Girlfriend is a Gumiho) plays an irresponsible crown prince who has a lot of growing up to do, while top actress Ha Ji Won (Secret Garden) continues her tough cookie streak as a tomboyish North Korean soldier with a soft heart.

Spoiled since birth, arrogant crown prince Jae Ha (Lee Seung Gi) is serving in the army, and he is less than happy about the physically grueling experience. His mandatory stint gets a lot more interesting when the two Koreas agree to hold joint military training, bringing tough yet cute North Korean officer Hang Ah (Ha Ji Won) into his life. Stuck in the same unit, wimpy Jae Ha and spunky Hang Ah seem more likely to start a war than to fall in love, though they begin to grow closer during the training. Against their wishes, the two of them get set up into an arranged marriage!

[シリーズストーリー]
韓国の国王の弟、イ・ジェハ（イ・スンギ）。国や王座には無関心、自由気ままに暮らすジェハだったが、国王である兄ジェガンに騙され、南北が合同チームを結成する世界将校大会（ＷＯＣ）に嫌々出場することに。一方、北では特殊部隊の教官キム・ハンア（ハ・ジウォン）がＷＯＣのメンバーに選ばれる。嫌がるハンアだったが、党の幹部が結婚相手を探すという条件を出し…。ちゃらちゃらして無神経なジェハと、北でジェハの暗殺方法を教えていたハンアは当然最悪の出会いを果たす。しかし、トレーニングの期間、なぜか同じ部屋を使うことになった２人。とある下心を持って優しく接するジェハを意識するハンアだったが、ジェハはハンアの恋愛ベタという悩みを仲間たちに言いふらしたあげく、ハンアに「君は女じゃない」と言い放つ…！　時を同じくして、韓国の王室と北の幹部であるハンアの父親の間で２人の縁談が持ち上がっていて…！！
