Matsuda Ryuhei is the prodigal mohawked son who returns home in the delightful comedy-drama Mohican Comes Home from writer-director Okita Shuichi (A Story of Yonosuke). Co-starring Emoto Akira (A Living Promise), Maeda Atsuko (Initiation Love), Motai Masako (Toilet) and Chiba Yudai (The Magnificent Nine), the offbeat drama applies gag humor, down-to-earth warmth and rock spirit to a family's fighting and bonding in the face of sickness and loss.

After seven years away, failed rocker Eikichi (Matsuda Ryuhei) returns to his quiet island hometown in Hiroshima to introduce his pregnant girlfriend Yuka (Maeda Atsuko) to his family. He doesn't plan to stay long. Eikichi's father Osamu (Emoto Akira) is both livid at his deadbeat son and thrilled about becoming a grandfather. He decides to throw a party to celebrate, but collapses in the middle of it and rushed to the hospital where it's revealed that he has late-stage cancer. Eikichi and the rest of the family try their best to keep Osamu happy during this critical time, often to hilarious effect.

Product Information

Eikichi is frontman for a death metal band that has no future. His girlfriend Yuka's pregnancy prompts him to return home to Tobi Island, where his family lives. He hasn't been home for 7 years and he's not eager to return. His father, Osamu is stubborn and he doesn't approve his son. Osamu gives his son an earful when they go home but he's happy about the news of his first grandchild and calls all the locals over for a wild party. Osamu collapses at the party and consequently discovers that he has cancer with a bad prognosis. Eikichi struggles with the imminent death of his father. His efforts to please his father mostly fail but he tries to think of what he can do for his dying father... Winner of Udine Far East Film Festival’s Black Dragon Audience Award and Bronze Mulberry Award.
