One of Korea's most prominent directors, Park Chan Wook has found international acclaim for films like Old Boy, Thirst and JSA, and recently made his Hollywood debut with Stoker. See where it all started with his first film The Moon is... the Sun's Dream, released in 1992 when he was 29 years old. A film that many film fans have heard of but few have seen, The Moon is... the Sun's Dream played on only one screen for its original release, but it's now available on video. The film, which follows a Busan gangster whose life spirals violently out of control when he falls in love with his boss's mistress, offers an early taste of the intense action and revenge themes that Park Chan Wook would become famous for in his later films.

:: 줄거리
패션사진 작가 하영(송승환)은 밤마다 사창가에 나가 다큐멘터리를 찍고 있다. 어느 날 우연히 그는 자신의 이복동생 무훈(이승철)이 찾고 있는 은주(나현희)라는 여자의 모습을 포착하게 되고 무훈은 그것을 근거로 은주를 찾게 된다. 은주는 무훈이 몸 담고 있는 조직에서 보스의 여자였지만 무훈과 사랑에 빠져 둘은 함께 달아났었다.

그러나 얼마 지나지 않아 은주는 다시 보스의 손에 붙잡혀 가게 되었는데 바로 그 순간을 하영의 카메라가 포착한 것이었다. 하영은 동생 커플의 행복을 위해 은주에게 패션 모델 일을 권하고 그녀는 성공의 길에 접어들려 한다.

그러나 무훈은 보스로부터 살인 청부를 받게 되고 그의 손아귀에서 은주를 완전히 빼내기 위해 청부살인을 수락한다. 은주는 하영의 도움으로 얼굴의 상처도 성형수술로 고치고 유명한 패션 디자이너의 패션쇼에서 데뷔를 하기에 이른다. 바로 그날 무훈은 청부살인을 감행하다 보스의 총에 맞게 되고, 불안함을 느낀 은주는 패션쇼장에서 도망치는데...
