Comedymeister Wong Jing brings his inimitable touch to The Romancing Star, the first of many films relying on his classic "chasing girls" formula! Chow Yun Fat stars as a lower class fellow who works in a car repair shop along with his pals Eric Tsang and Nat Chan Bak Cheung. A wacky bunch, the trio spends their time playing practical jokes on one another. But when Chow and girlfriend Sharla Cheung Man go splitsville, boss Stanley Fung takes his entire staff to Malaysia for some fun and sun. There, Chow meets the adorable Maggie Cheung, and it's off to the races! Wacky movie parodies, sudden hijinks, and just plain silliness are promised by The Romancing Star, and Wong Jing does his best to keep the jokes coming fast and furiously! 　　Fred, foul-mouthed, together with his two close buddies, Silver and Tony, are working in a garage. Their boss, Ken, is harsh and dingy. However, a warm and close friendship has been established among the four. In order to recover the heartbreak of Fred, Ken suggested a tour to Penang to cheer up Fred. They came across two beautiful girls, Maggie and Agnes, strolling leisurely on the beach as if they were very wealthy. Since then they decided on courtship. They played a poker game to decide who’s to who. And Fred, the winner, chose Maggie to be his sole target. By the rules of the game, Ken, Silver and Tong have to compete to see who in the ends will win the heart of Agnes…
