Prolific filmmaker Jojo Hideo transplants Hong Kong director Pang Ho Cheung's 2004 film Beyond Our Ken to 2021 Japan in Thorns of Beauty. The Japanese remake of the revenge love story stars Matsumoto Honoka (Love Like the Falling Petals), Tamashiro Tina (Goodbye Cruel World) and Watanabe Keisuke (Fullmetal Alchemist: Final Chapter).

Library worker Momo (Matsumoto Honoka) recently got dumped by photographer Kentaro (Watanabe Keisuke). Though their relationship has ended, she still thinks about him and looks at his Instagram account. That's how she finds out that Kentaro has a new girlfriend, Riko (Tamashiro Tina), who is a dancer. Momo looks up Riko on Instagram and goes to meet her in person. Momo asks Riko to help delete her explicit photographs from Kentaro's computer. A strange love triangle forms when the current girlfriend and the ex-girlfriend secretly team up.
