Blazing through cinemas to become Japan's biggest live-action film of 2021, Tokyo Revengers is based on Wakui Ken's best-selling shonen manga, which has also inspired a hit anime series. Directed by Hanabusa Tsutomu (Kakegurui), Tokyo Revengers unfolds the different timelines of an unemployed loser who goes back in time to his youth delinquent days to try to change the fate of his high school sweetheart, who gets killed in the present day. Kitamura Takumi (Let Me Eat Your Pancreas) plays the time-traveling hero while Imada Mio (You Shine in the Moonlight) is the girl he wants to save. The cast is filled with other familiar young faces including Sugino Yosuke (Waiting for Spring), Yoshizawa Ryo (Kingdom), Maeda Gordon (Kiss Me at the Stroke of Midnight), Shimizu Hiroya (Chihayafuru), Isomura Hayato (From Today, It's My Turn!!), Mamiya Shotaro (Fly Me To The Saitama) and Yamada Yuki and Suzuki Noboyuki from the HiGH & LOW series.

26-year-old freeter Hanagaki Takemichi (Kitamura Takumi) is shocked to see on the news that his ex-girlfriend Hinata (Imada Mio) and her brother Naoto (Sugino Yosuke) were killed by the notorious Tokyo Manji Gang that even the yakuza fear. The next day, he falls off a train station platform and wakes up ten years in the past as a high school student. That was when everything began to go downhill for him. To save Hinata, Takemichi must relive the worst time of his life and take on the Tokyo Manji Gang.

Takemichi Hanagaki leads a dead-end life in a run-down apartment while working part-time at a job for a younger manager who treats him like an idiot. Then one day, he learns that a girl he used to date during his hooligan days in middle school, Hinata Tachibana, and her brother, Naoto, have been murdered by the Kanto area’s most illainous hoodlums, Tokyo Manji. The very next day, Takemichi is standing on a train platform when he is suddenly pushed onto the tracks. But instead of dying, Takemichi is transported ten years into the past where he is reunited with Hinata’s younger brother, Naoto. “10 years from now, Hinata and you will be killed” he tells Naoto, thus altering the future. Hinata still doesn’t survive, but Naoto does, becoming a police detective. Returning to the present day, Takemichi recruits Naoto’s help in returning to the past to crush Tokyo Manji and save his Hinata’s life once and for all. All Takemichi needs to do to travel through time is to shake hands with Naoto in either the present or the past. But to save Hinata and break free from a life of running away, Takemichi must take on Kanto’s most powerful syndicate, the Tokyo Manji gang!
