Hong Kong independent filmmaker and Thai boxing coach Sam Leung writes, directs, produces, finances and stars in the low-budget gangster action drama The Tournament. Using his own name, Leung plays Sam Gor, a cool and collected Hong Kong triad boss who attains the management rights to an annual yakuza-backed underground MMA tournament that caters to a group of mysterious masked tycoons. Challenged by a rival mobster and a Thai boxer with whom he shares some history, Sam must face off against martial arts competitors from around the world to protect his family and interests.
