A young man's closed world opens up in The Journalist writer-director Fujii Michihito's Village starring Yokohama Ryusei and Kuroki Haru. Also featuring Furuta Arata, Nakamura Shido, Okudaira Daiken, Sakuma Ryuto, Ichinose Wataru, Sugimotto Tetta and Nishida Naomi, the film is set in a remote village that begins to change.

Since he was a child, Katayama Yu (Yokohama Ryusei) has lived in the beautiful village of Kamonmura. However, his life is far from beautiful. He works at a large garbage disposal facility in the nearby mountains where noh performances were once held. Stuck in place, Yu carries the stigma from an incident that his father once caused in the village, and the heavy burden of his mother's debt. One day, Yu's childhood friend Misaki (Kuroki Haru) returns from Tokyo, and his hopeless life takes a turn in unexpected ways.

＜ストーリー＞閉ざされた世界。閉ざされた心。やがて、一炊の夢から醒める。
夜霧が幻想的な、とある日本の集落・霞門村。神秘的な「薪能」の儀式が行われている近くの山には、巨大なゴミの最終処分場がそびえ立つ。幼い頃より霞門村に住む片山優は、美しい村にとって異彩を放つこの施設で働いているが、母親が抱えた借金の支払いに追われ希望のない日々を送っている。かつて父親がこの村で起こした事件の汚名を背負い、その罪を肩代わりするようにして生きてきた優には、人生の選択肢などなかった。そんなある日、幼馴染の美咲が東京から戻ったことをきっかけに物語は大きく動き出す――。
