Virgin Snow (Cinepoly, 1988) Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
"Virgin Snow"......what a beautiful original title for an album. What made me attracted to buying this album, is the album cover. The photograph is superior. You have the photo of Leslie covering the left side of his face with his right hand within another photo of him standing there, posing among snowy grounds (the two photo images of Leslie merged beautifully into one). This is all beautifully done, due to the talent of the album's photographer - Justin Chan. You also have four other beautiful photos of Leslie, shot charmingly by Justin. The title "Virgin Snow" on the back cover of the album is nicely designed, especially the letter "V", by Alan Chan (for the concept and design of the album). Leslie co-produced this world class album along with Patrick Yeung and Alvin Leong. Eight songs were musically arranged by Japanese musicians, while the other two were musically arranged by Hong Kong's talented composer - Joseph Koo. Famous hits from this 1988 album includes: "Killer of Love" (Track 1), "Hot, Hot, Hot" (a re-sung American pop song of the mid 1980's into Cantonese by Leslie, Track 2), "Heading Towards The Future" (the theme song of the famous John Woo film - "A Better Tomorrow II", Track 3), "Love In The Snow" (Michael Kwan Ching-kit's song re-sung lovingly by Leslie, Track 4), and, "Thinking Of You" (a beautiful song composed by Leslie, himself, Track 6). My favourite tracks are Tracks 1-6, 8 and 9. My most favourite track definitely has to be the last track - "The Most Beloved", composed nicely by Jonathan Lee Tsung-sheng, written poignantly by Cheng Kwok-gong and arranged beautifully by Joseph Koo. The Strings section lead by Wong Wai-ming and the piano played by Andrew Tuason is truly memserising (especially during the middle section of the song). The short aria by Leslie and the background vocal singers - Anna, Lisa and Donald, in the middle section of the song, sounded so heavenly. I believe you will buy this album without any reservations after you read my review (with my acknowledgement of the source - the album: "Virgin Snow") on this album. I can tell you the truth: I thoroughly enjoyed this album as much as I did with his album of 1987 - "Summer Romance '87". So why don't you pamper yourself with the lovely singing voice of the late "Gor Gor" (a.k.a. "Big Brother") Mr. Leslie Cheung Kwok-wing. Rest assured, you will love this album from the very beginning to very end.

A Classic Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I agree with Phil. This album is a classic which belongs to the same league as Summer Romance.I believe that was the peak of Leslie's career. The song that I liked the best is track 10 "Most Beloved". It is so full of emotion and so melodic and classical. Leslie is a great artist who is orginal and versatile. He is the only Hong Kong singer who can handle fast and slow songs of all style and this album, like Summer Romance is a typical example.

Virgin Snow - the most original album title...... Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
"Virgin Snow" of 1988 is definitely the most original album title for a Chinese (Cantonese) album. His other album - "Summer Romance '87" is also quite a unique album title. I also picked up on this special feature......I know that Leslie chosen an album title that's not from any of his song titles. For example, the album title "Virgin Snow" doesn't come from any of his song titles of his 10 songs, recorded in this album. Do you get my "drift"? Did you ever noticed? My most favourite songs out of this album is definitely "Thinking of You" (Track 6) and "The Most Beloved" (Track 10). The song - "Thinking of You" was played on TVB tributes to the late Mr. Leslie Cheung Kwok-wing ("Gor Gor" a.k.a "Big Brother" in English). "The Most Beloved" is one of the most beautiful Cantopop songs I've ever heard and verges on being a bit classical, with Leslie and his background vocal singers singing a very short aria around the middle section of the song by going - "Ah Ah Ah Ah......Ah Ah Ah Ah.......Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Hah......" This song goes a little over five minutes and I personally feel this song is definitely a of his personal highlights of his singing career. Also look at his flawless performance at any of his concerts on VCD/DVD. Although this forever young, a perfectionist and a sexy performer of a singer, of our times have passed away, he shall forever live in our hearts and minds. Rest in Peace.
