Part of the "Metro of Love" film series that uses the Taipei Metro as backdrop for romance, Welcome to the Happy Days takes its inspiration from Xinbeitou Station and Taipei's hot springs area. Directed by Gavin Lin (A Moment of Love), the charming comedy stars Alice Ke (Monga) and Andrew Chau, the son of singer Emil Chau, in his film debut.

In order to earn money to go study abroad in the U.S., messy and bumbling Fang Ru (Alice Ke) takes over management of her grandmother's struggling hot springs inn while she's in the hospital. Little does she know, the inn is actually in debt, and guests are nowhere to be seen. Then one day, Allen (Andrew Chau), a young American guy, shows up at the inn asking to work in exchange for board. Allen's arrival not only inspires Fang Ru to come up with new ideas to revitalize the inn, it also uncovers her grandmother's decades-old love story.

從奶奶淑敏(陳淑芳 飾)開始經營的今日溫泉旅館歷史悠久，卻因跟不上時代潮流，生意日漸衰敗，孫女芳如(柯佳嬿 飾)是超級「魚干女」，不修邊幅、做事少根筋、房間永遠亂七八糟，為了賺取去美國打工留學的費用，決定下海經營。然而面對上門的債主，以及隔壁五星級大飯店的惡意競爭，芳如深陷內憂外患，正當她焦頭爛額、苦無對策之際，恰巧遇上了想來打工換宿的美國帥哥Allen(周厚安 飾)！

腦筋一動的芳如，聯手體重破表的旅館評鑑員、偷情的立委與女星、天兵頭腦的花痴阿好姨、有肉無腦的美國小鮮肉，展開了一連串突發奇想瘋狂的「有省錢（五星級）」計畫，來重振今日溫泉旅館。然而挑戰接踵而來，他們又將如何應對呢？

《五星級魚干女》為台灣少見的瘋狂喜劇，導演林孝謙打造了繽紛懷舊的日式旅館，他表示「這間旅館象徵台灣土地，有本土、日本、美國等不同文化衝擊，柯佳嬿就像新一代的台灣人，熱情積極面對各種挑戰，這是我寫給台灣的情書」。
