Directed by Amp Wong and Zhao Ji, the computer-animated film White Snake is based on the famous Chinese folk tale that has been reimagined many times in operas, TV series and films, including Tsui Hark's Green Snake. Selected for the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Fantasia International Film Festival and CFI London Film Festival, this telling of the Legend of the White Snake brings in many original elements while keeping the heartrending love story between a man and a demon.
During the turmoil of the late Yuan Dynasty, the State Preceptor orders the mass hunting of snakes across the empire. White snake demon Xiao Bai is sent to assassinate the Preceptor, but her mission fails. She falls into water and loses her memories. Assuming human form, she gets rescued by young snake catcher Ah Xuan. The two embark on a journey to recover her memories.
Japan Version release includes both the original Chinese audio version and the Japanese dub version voiced by Mimori Suzuko and Snow Man member Sakuma Daisuke.
