Enter the dark world of a Hong Kong youth detention center in With Prisoners. The directorial debut of Andrew Wong, With Prisoners questions the methods and mindset behind the youth correctional system through the grueling experiences of a juvenile delinquent played by She Remembers, He Forgets' Nick Yau. Singer-actor Kelvin Kwan (The Moment) co-stars as a conflicted correctional officer struggling with the responsibilities and abuses of his profession.

Rebellious young gangster Fan (Nick Yau) gets sentenced to a youth detention center after a violent run-in with a police officer. Three days into his imprisonment, he is broken by the brutal physical and mental abuse inflicted on inmates and attempts suicide. After being saved, Fan resolves to endure it all in hopes of getting released early to see his sick grandmother. In his time at the center, he encounters cruel and demeaning treatment day in and day out, including the mysterious death of an inmate.

Product Information

It is difficult to imagine that in a civilized city upholding law and order, inhumane treatments of prisoners still exist to this day, in particular a detention center which detains young offenders aged from 14 to 24 charged with light offences.

Fan, the protagonist is a young gang leader who was sentenced to imprisonment at a detention center for a slight conflict with a constable. After serving sentence for 3 days, he has been much abused by the staff inside who uses physical and mental bause of inmates as their core treatment. Fan commits suicide and is rescued. He survives the ordeal and is given hope to see his grandmother one last time before she passes. By submitting to discipline and embracing the guards’ abuse, Fan earns his right to be released in record time. Only to witness the mysterious death of his cell-mate days before his own release.
