Up-and-coming stars Tsuchiya Tao (Orange) and Takeuchi Ryoma (Kamen Rider Drive) chase after dreams and puppy love in the teen romance Yell for the Blue Sky, based on Kawahara Kazune's manga Aozora Yell. Miki Takahiro, the director of We Were There, Blue Spring Ride and Hot Road, continues his successful streak of coming-of-age shojo adaptations. Ueno Juri, who starred in Miki's Girl in the Sunny Place, plays the brass band's strict music teacher alongside a fresh young cast that also features Hayama Shono, Shida Mirai, Matsui Airi, Taira Yuna, Kojima Fujiko and Yamada Yuki.

Tsubasa (Tsuchiya Tao) especially entered Shirato High School because of its prestigious brass brand. However, as a beginner in trumpet, she finds it hard to keep up with the high level of practice. Classmate Daisuke (Takeuchi Ryoma), a member of the baseball team, becomes a supportive friend and the two make a promise to encourage each other towards their dreams: When Daisuke makes it to the nationals, Tsubasa will cheer for him in the stands. The two begin to develop feelings for each other, but after making a mistake in the regional qualifier, Daisuke distances himself from her to focus on baseball.

【ストーリー】
吹奏楽の名門・白翔高校に入学したトランペット初心者の小野つばさ。全国大会を目指すレベルの高い練習についていけず、何度も挫折しそうになる。そんなつばさを勇気づけてくれる、クラスメートで野球部員の山田大介。お互い夢に向かって励まし合うふたりは、ある「約束」をかわす。いつの間にかつばさには、大介へのほのかな想いが芽生えていた。
1年生の夏、地区予選の決勝まで勝ち進んだ野球部を吹奏楽部が応援。ところが途中出場した大介のミスで敗退。グラウンドで立ち尽くす大介のために、つばさは一人でトランペットを吹いてしまい、謹慎処分となる。心配して訪ねて来た大介への想いを抑えきれずに つばさは大介に告白するが、フラれてしまう。大介は、仲間の夢を潰してしまった自分が許せないでいた。
ふたりは“両片思い"のままそれぞれの夢を追いかけ、そして、最後の夏が来る――。
