Rising stars Nagano Mei (Daytime Shooting Star) and Kitamura Takumi (Let Me Eat Your Pancreas) pair up for the first time in You Shine in the Moonlight. Based on a novel by Sano Tetsuya, the moving youth romance is the latest from director Tsukikawa Sho, who adapted Let Me Eat Your Pancreas, Sensei Kunshu and My Little Monster.

High school student Takuya (Kitamura Takumi) is tasked to deliver notes to classmate Mamizu (Nagano Mei), who is in the hospital. He learns that Mamizu suffers from a rare and incurable "luminescence" disease. Due to cell abnormalities, her skin emits light; as the light becomes stronger, death also comes closer. Those afflicted do not survive to adulthood. Since Mamiza is not allowed to leave the hospital, Takuya becomes her proxy to help fulfill her wishes.
